I don't agree with your idea. I wrote an enormous book here about the economics of this...but it wasn't needed. Main point: more farmers, more items, more items, price goes down. Full groups are less likely to get a large amount of items worth circulating than a farming person/group. Unfortunately for your idea, the cost would only go up. Always remember, that the economy is totally on the shoulders of the players, not ANet, Anet can only regulate it so much, which they already have, by decreasing drops if area is farmed constanly by the same person/group, and making over farming very difficult. Anyone at any time is allow to trade an item for up to 100k + any kind of stackable item up to 250*7, or non stackable *7. /not signed.

These people have spent time on developing their characters and capping/buying required skills. Then they had to think up the build. That's skill. Why punish skill with a nerf?

If they applied your system it would effectively render UW useless. I used to play UW quite often with full 8 man groups just to explore it for fun. The normal drop rate for ectoplasms is extremely low even if you clear a large part of it (+/- 3 ectoplasm in 5 hours). Your winnings for playing UW with a full 8 man team are extremely poor hence why no one plays it like that. Aswell as the fact that 90% of the GW community is extremely incompetant at everything. Hence why most people hench/heroway 90% of the game and solo/dual farm.

I just want to mention 4 things.
1)Most solo builds require the player to have and the 3 campaigns so far(this means something?)and to play a lot of hours just to get the skills.
2) Fow / Uw with 1/2/3 man. First if there is a very big party there can be too many noob players... shared drops will refer to noob loot. The fewer the players the bigger the chalenge(reward/chance to die), and if someone is in a hurry you can lure 2-3 groups together to test tactics.So far experienced players take a risk and just dont bring a 8man party that sometimes leaves them with no drops at all(all the other take 2-3 shards except you) !!!!
3)Who said uw and fow is not nerfed? Most times duo uw there is not even a chest!!! Sometimes solo fow ->not even a shard! 3man fow->6 shards at least (plus 1-2 ectos if lucky). Bigger party more than 11 shards... seen it many times.
4)As for the solo green farm, maybe some decreased drop chance would be ok, but yet their value is 1-160k that actually refers to the difficulty to obtain them is very balanced so far.

Once again this comes across as someone that can't do these things so wants it nerfed. Instead of coming up with a way to do it, (or in the case of certain skills to counter them) scream to get it nerfed. Step up to the plate and learn to play them before you go screaming for a nerf.

And so many others are right...more items being brought in lowers the cost...its all about supply and demand.

Wow, i thought this topic was dead long ago. Guess i didnt checked the second pages.

I am currently doing a solo farm at UW, since there is no other way to get ectos nowadays. (just to answer some random flaming)

Well, my inicial idea was to reward people for beegin with a full group, since you really cant call these solo, 2man etc build a skilled build, they just explore some resources that shouldt really exist. Tanking a large mob, wating a while and then nuking and killing everything in 5 seconds is exploring the AI, using Famine to farm also explores the AI.
I had some random thought about it yesterday (dont ask me why) and i came to the same conclusion as one of two (that take posts of ideas for real) of you had; it still wouldnt compensate.
But thinking of what a.net could do by adding this, is that they could feel free to increase the amount of Ectos at each run, in a way that you would still get at least 1-2 at each run. Ectos are the only real problem for this, because since most of you want to get at least 1-2 at each run. Shards and any type of loot drop nicelly, these additional +20% will only help, no complains about that.
So, to you that said that the prices will go way up, i say you are completly wrong. Because by making drop 1-2 Ectos at each run, you would be adding at least 12 Ectos at the market at each run, they would produce it faster, and people will once again feel confortable on going to UW. So at the end we have more ectos and more people getting it, bringing them down to shards level.
And of course, i do feel like FoW and UW should be "upgraded", adding more dificult mobs, such as the ones at the Realm of Torment

I saw some really random flaming, people shouldnt do drugs and look at foruns.
