Mirrror or Reflection type of skill
MegaMouse
Reaing through the posts I haven't seen anyone mention a skill that could when cast on someone cause a skill that was cast on them (mainly skills and majic cast by enemies) to reflect back to the caster. The idea behind this skill came from another game I played but I am not sure of the games name.
This skill could be used upon any of your teammates and last for a certian amount of time depending on its affiliation with an attribute. Seeing as this skill sounds like a protection type I suggest it be given to the Monk. Making this skill like Retribution and Mending would defeat the purpose and cause great abuse of it. To keep that from happening it needs to either have a time limit or it should end when the player is hit with a physical attack.
This skill should reflect 100% of the damage from the reflected skill, causing the caster to rethink whether he/she is willing to get hit with their own skill's. Having a skill like this could bring in new tactcs to the PVP and GVG arena's.

I'm doubting that we will see such a thing for one simple reason: monster skills, and especially boss skills/spells, can easily outdamage anything a player can deal out in a single blow. Casting a perfect mirror on the guy Argo just called out for his fireball would result in a LOT of damage.
If the mirror were to reflect imperfectly, returning only a set amount instead of the whole thing, then it would just feel like a rip-off of Reversal of Damage, which is capped on max damage it can send back.
The downside of ANET doubling damage for bosses and giving monsters absurdly high-damage skills, I suppose.

Ok first I don't realy want another Elite skill for my toolbar. Thats why this should be done as a regular skill.
Second Orrin is right, I was tired when I posted this and was not thinking things through. To balance the reflection skill have it reflect a percentage of the damage back to the caster depending on how high the attribute is that it is tied to. Another thing is to have it end whenever it reflects a skill that way. Giving this skill to a monk should put it under smite or protection. Also set it up so that it doesn't reflect physical skills that require the attacker to actualy touch the person it is cast upon.

Not sure if it's what you're thinking of, but scroll down to the "Redirection" attribute. They're not really 'reflections' though, for the most part.

I don't understand what you're suggesting. Something like Reversal of Damage? Reflects any damage back but only once. An elite version of that that lasts a set amount of time (like how Mark of Protection is an elite version of Reversal of Fortune) would be awesome. If it didn't prevent the damage too, all you'd have is Retribution/Holy Wrath.
Or do you mean it actually reflects back not damage, but hexes and any type of skill?

I think he means a skill similar to reversal of damage, but that actually reflects 100% of the incoming damage instead of the cap. Bad, not because it's overpowered on its own, but because ANET likes to give mobs levels and damage multipliers that WOULD be game-breaking in the hands of players. Imagine, for example, chain-casting a reversal on Argo's Fury, or -shudders- jade Wind?
Monster skills are hideously overpowered, and ANET knows it. So this skill, as fun as it would be, will never see the light of day in-game. Unless, of course, it was made a monster skill, because they can break the verisimilitude of the game any way they like.

Well... a skil like this sounds like an instand Mimicry or Skill Thievery, so it should be a Mesmer Elite skill.
It should be an stance or a enchantment, so it can be removed and countered.
Now, the question. Would this skill make the enemy target herself, or will make it so it was the caster of the mirror casting it. I mean, will it count enemy or caster attributes?
And, of course, Monster skills won't be affected by this skill, like many don't.

Backfire comes to mind, Mirror of Ice too.
Mesmers could have a mirror skill though, it should only work on offensive skills though, else monks would be healing the other team at random.
Also, revealed/inspired Hex is kinda like a redirection of choice.

I think the OP basically means, whilst he has this Reflection enchant on him, any spells (or the first spell) used against him is targeted against the caster instead.
e.g: I cast flare on him whilst he has the reflection skill, and I take 23 damage from my own flare.
I cast Spiteful Spirit on him, I get hexed with my own Spiteful Spirit.
However, the OP doesn't specify whether the effect will go through or get reflected completely. Using the example above, If I cast SS on him, I get hexed with my own spell, does he get hexed also?
Also, how do healing spells work? If I target him with Orison of healing, do I get healed instead, with my own heal?
How do spells that activate more than once get reflected, e.g Meteor shower?

I like this, but I say make it a Mesmer Hex. Something like "For X...X seconds, the next spell cast by hexed foe has it's target changed to the caster." This could have two major purposes - any attack spells/hexes would affect the target who is casting it, and any helpful spells directed at other teammates like heals and enchantments would affect the caster instead.

Ok time for a bit of clarification. The reflection skill should only reflect back skills cast by enemies (this was a problem in Star Ocean, the game that has it at the moment as healing skills would be reflected back at the caster also). Recharge time should be determined by the skill that was reflected. The skill that was cast even those that cause damage over time (Meteor Shower) should be completely refelcted upon the caster. Have a high initial cost to cast it to prevent players from spamming. Set it so that it will not end til a skill is reflected. The whole reason for a reflection skill is to do just that, reflect the damage that would have been caused to the player back onto the caster. Some hurdles may have to be overcome to keep a balance issue from coming up as ths could become a rather powerful skill. Plus this type of skill could cause some ot the cookie cutter builds to become useless. I say give it to the monks due to the fact that in Star Ocean that is who has it, the healer class, and I think it hould be more of either a smite or protection type of skill.

Mirror of Ice could use some work to be honest...
??Ripskin
I like the idea. but I don't think it could reflect hexes too.
