Now, I don't know how many of you noticed this, but yesterday I was playing a ritualist with rupture soul and I noticed this bug. First let's see what does it do:
Target allied Spirit is destroyed. All nearby enemies are struck for 50...122 lightning damage and become blinded for 3...10 seconds.
1st it doesn't say all nearby enemies around you or the spirit, but that's not important now.
The thing is, if you target any spirit and use rupture soul animation will go around the spirit, but if you don't target a spirit and use rupture soul animation will go around you. Now, I didn't really have time to check if it actually does any damage when it's around you, but it's confusing. I don't know what did they mean with nearby enemies. Nearby enemies around who? Me or the spirit? And then I can see animation on both.

It's an implied 'nearby the spirit', though the description could use an adjustment. Unlike the "target foe and nearby foes", which could also be interpreted to mean that foe, and the foes near you, this one's seperated by a period. The spirit destruction could simply be a form of necessary fuel, having nothing to do with the location.
It's a slight stretch, but I believe it's better to err on the side of removing ambiguity.
As to the animation, it's an issue present with a handful of such skills. Draw Spirit, for instance, also does that, and it can perform the animation on any ally in your party.
Contemplation of Purity did this too, back in the day.
The effect is still where it should be, around the spirit, however.

Other Ritualist skills that effect a spirit from targeting one do similar things. Signet of Binding you can self cast, though you get no bonus from it. Other spells that say "target spirit" or "target undead ally" don't have to target. I can't tell if Feast for the Dead takes a random minion or the lowest health minion if you are not targeting one of your minions when you use the spell.
Dr Strangelove
I was using this last night, when you do a self cast it actually targets the nearest spirit, which can save quite a bit of time of hunting for that damn spirit of fury in the middle of everything.

Still, it doesn't mean that bug shouldn't be fixed. If the effect is still around the spirit why don't they place the animation there as well.
