Is it possible and a good idea, to get a Monk as tanker in all area's of DOA?
Mo/Me (105, 85 or 55HP)
1: Healing Breeze
2: Prot Spirit
3: Arcane Echo
4: Spell Breaker {Elite}
5: Shield Of Absorption or Blessed Signet
6: Blessed Aura
7: Essence Bond
8: Balthazar's Spirit
Attributes:
Divine: 12 + 3 = 15
Prot: 10+ 4 = 14
Healing: 8 +3 = 11
Weapon: 20% longer enchantments mod on it
Note: Spell breaker lasts now 26 sec (with 20% enchantments weapon mod and with 35% longer enchantments from Blessed aura), so with arcane 52, so u have 7 sec of play time Spell Breaker recharge is 45 sec.
Need a necro with BiP or Br if u do not take Blessed Signet.
Cast the enchantments (upkeep), wait for full energy. (use blessed signet or let the necro use Bip / BR)
Before u go into aggroe, cast arcane echo and Spell Breaker, let the necro use BiP or Br on you, or you use blessed signet (depence on what u took).
Just before agroe cast PS and HB and tank. Try to keep Spell Breaker up at all times.
The rest of the party does dmg from the back line.
Party:
2 x Necro's
|-> BiP and SS
2 x Elementalist Nukers
|-> SF and Meteor Shower
2 x Monk
|-> Smiter and Healer
Alternative:
1 x Necro
|-> SS + BR
2 x Elementalist Nuker
|-> SF and Meteor Shower
1 x Monk
|-> Healing

Erm Arcane Echo lasts only 20 secs so you have to cast the copy of SB after 19 secs (as it takes 1 sec to cast) which mean only with a perfect timing you'll be able to keep it up all the time (aka if you recast it exactly 19 secs after the 1st time, not even 1 sec before or after). If you fail, your enchantements won't last long...
EDIT - And if you really wanna try you should have someone to cast AV/SV on you for the knockdowns...

The second day DoA was out I went with a group that tried something like this. We managed to kill the first 4 mobs in the margonite city before we wiped but we didn't go out again after that. The reason we wiped was because the monk forgot a prot spirit at some point.
Damage output was out biggest problem, we were using an SS and nukers but they often got spiked while running into range of the target they were after. Either way, these groups take some time to whittle down (and there are a LOT of them) so the monk has to really be on his/her toes despite the major boredom they will surely face.
Also, I don't think it would work in Sygian due to the touchers.
