I came across a "nerf searing flames" thread today. It was closed, with the response "search for 'searing flames'".

Cute response, but no dice: I did a search, and I went to a half-dozen links...all were closed. I want to see what others have said, and depending on what others have said, I may want to respond myself. However, I can't find any lengthy discussion of this.

So either the search tools need to be upgraded so I can order by closed status, or the admins need to link to the appropriate thread when they close.

This should probably go in the site feedback forum.

There have been plenty of threads about this skill. They quickly turn messy so they close them.

Nerf threads turn into flame/spam wars so they get closed..whats the big deal?

BTW the forum rule is talk to the mod that closed the thread and then if you are still not satisfied you PM an Admin.

Thank you, Lasareth.

Admins Bane --- closing is not a problem. Closing with a reason "other threads on this exist; search for them" without providing neither links to said threads nor an *effective* search tool (that displays whether a thread is closed...as the 5ish I visited were) is hasty and inappropriate admin behavior.

Being an admin takes a lot of work sometimes, especially with busy forums like these. Good admins are extraordinarily appreciated, even when us common folk tend not to gush about the excellent adminship taking place all around us. That being said...a hasty admin who essentially backhands someone with a response like that is very much unappreciated.

In forum threads like these, your job is to redirect attention to the primary threads for proper discussion. An uncaring brash job of it isn't a job at all.
