I was wondering this when I get updates at like 11 PM at night or so....
What is Anet staff's average worktime, if something goes wrong does the dev team stay up to work on it?
I'd just like to know the average worktimes of Anet, because they do a great job .
Updates seem to come really quickly, so I was just wondering....
Question to Gaile/Anet.

They are near Seattle, Washington so its Pacific time, how does your local time compare? They choose to update when the least amount of people will be effected so as not to screw up too many pvp matches.

i believe Jeff Strain mentioned it in the nightfall CE's DVD that the network/programming guys are the ones they call in the middle of the night when something goes horribly wrong.
like at 4 am for example, they come in to fix the problem

Yea, that may be good for the players, but that's sooooo not a job that I want to have.

it's a programming job, so they are most likely on a salary, meaning they work as long as they must. More than likely they also have 1 or 2 people who monitor things when most everyone has gone home.

At least when I did similar type of work you scheduled your day around updating things at night. That is, I still got my 8 (or more) hours in, I just came in to work at 4pm.
Most programmers or sysadmins do not mind it too much as long as it isn't too often. It's just part of the job and most of us seem to like strange hours anyway.
I know I've simultaneously had people think I was en extreme slacker or real go-getter depending on when they worked. I usually didn't come into work till around noon so the morning people assumed I went home right after they did. The night people knew I was there when they arrived and could usually count on getting help up till about 4 in the mourning (if it was a small fix I could do at home I responded to e-mail). I worked pretty much the same hours as every body else.
