Cantha has its own, independent and utterly different holiday schedule. I didn't see you whining that Tyria and Elona didn't get a Dragon Festival this summer.
A little cultural distinction is, IMO, a GOOD thing.
No love for Cantha?

Prophecies is the "Core" chapter, IMO every GW player must buy it. And the "promotional" GW chapter right now is Nightfall, and events are most in Elona, similar to Factions only events in the past months. Also some things are already designed like Lion Arch Halloween decoration, they just re-enable it again every year, this Christmas will be similar for Tyria, just re-enable decorations, etc., and some promo for Nightfall. If they continue with that "re-enabling" thing, maybe Factions will get the Dragon Festival again.

Yes, the cultures are different, but let's not forget that according to the lore, all the regions share fundamentally the same religion. And Wintersday is indeed a religious holiday, unless I'm way off the mark. Sure, we can pretend that the Canthans are all anti-Wintersday Puritans, but I never got that impression...

Wintersday is a "religious" holiday in the sense that it's a battle between Dwayna and Grenth, but Factions' has a different system, they have "ancestor worship" like the majority of asian countries, biggest example being Tahkannai Temple (bad spelling i know, but too lazy to check). also the way the kurzicks/luxons exalt their respective heroes; the kurzicks went as far as entombing the ashes in a cathedral, though you could compare that to Saints i guess. but at the end of the day, it's a fictional world.
also, sure Christmas is celebrated in asian countries now too, but it's more a commercialised holiday like valentine's day is now as opposed to having actual religious meaning like it is in western countries.
