After reading some posts i dont know what to say...
Reality vs Reality...
On one hand you have the fact that people would like the blood added, and imo that it makes the game more realisitic. On the other we have the "monster M" ,which ANet wants to avoid for multiple reasons, sales loss and such.
Then again it's not a tough choice if your ANet,
work on previous chapters? dear god no!
monster blood?

They would rather keep that horrendous M or T off and keep it where it is at. ANET would also loose a fair amount world-wide audiences. Who is to say Joe and Mary who allow their sons and daughters to play this game because it's one of the few games that doesn't involve blood. As soon as it does, Joe and Mary take this game away from their kids and ANET looses players. Guildwars is one of those few, few games that are excellent with out having to be like these other games and involve blood and gore for the fantasy-real effect that it presents. Should it change, they'd be just in the same category as the others... |
If Joe and Mary's kids can play the game with the chat filter on, they can play the game with animated blood off.

You people give anet too much credit. If Little Billy and Joe already bought the game and the parent take it away, Anet still has there money now doesnt it. Warcaft 3 HAD BLOOD. Not a lot but it was there and that game did very very well.
If you have GW taken away because of Blood, then you probably shouldnt be on the internet. Or near any games that dont involve cute cuddly things.
Another example, anet puts the chat filter on at default, but makes it incredible easy to turn off, same for blood. set it to none, add feature to turn it on. Then the parents can have there way.

Lately I've noticed that some monster have 'black flyes' flyring over their corpses in some places...
There could be a 'violence slider' form 'minimal' to 'excessive'.
In minimal, there could be just some flashes and lights to show hits.
In 'excesive' the could be horrible amputations, blood flying all over the place... etc... It's just a client sided option, anyways.

1) it will be a suicidal choice by the marketing point of the game
2) i think anet might get in legal issue if they modify the rating of a game after they sold it
so basicly you can sign all you wont ,arenanet wont go in finacial loss for something so stupid

That doesnt mean they cant add it to the next chapter. the 4th Chapter can have blood and i bet no loss of sales would be detected, actually it might jump.

Look at the back of Factions. Rated T for violence, use of alcohol, and suggestive themes. If Joe and Mary let their kids see that stuff, I don't think they'll give a rats ass if animated blood is added.
