Maybe we should stop adding new professions.

Maybe they should stop coming up with new professions. New chapters should make it possible to start as any of the ten we have now.

Why stop? it would give the game-makers more time to concentrate on other things, there's not many directions left to go, and we have a pretty good balance as things are now (5 physical and 5 magical, 3 close-range, 2 long-range, 3 offensive magic, and 2 defensive magic, etc.)

What do you think?

You might have missed them, but there has been at least 3 previous threads like this in the past week...

One of the large reasons I buy the other games is because of the other classes. Sometimes the story alone is just not a big enough reason to buy a game. I mean, look at Factions.

Been so many threads on this, and I've been saying it since before Factions was released. I would have been fine with just the 6 core professions.

I like the idea of new professions, but I can see why it would be bad after a while. You can only have so many good ideas before the professions just start repeating themselves. It would be nice if they kept on adding two each chapter, but if they stopped, I would understand. I wouldn't like Nightfall nearly as much if the Dervish hadn't been released. If they can keep up original profession ideas like that, I'll be happy.

If you dont think any of the campaigns arent good, then you shouldn play them, oh and you should be shot. The idea of no classes would benefit in the long run but for the near future it would be good to see some original classes.

I don't think Factions is good. I'm glad you told me I shouldn't play it. Now I have confirmation that I was following the right course of action by NOT playing it. Any other top tips for the day that will help me sleep just that LITTLE bit better at night?

One thing that people tend not to notice is that the new professions have to be started within that new realm. So you will only have 7 to choose from during any one character creation for any expansion. I don't see it as a problem....

If you dont like it, thats good for you, which almost is belittled when the Majority speaks saying it was just as good as the others.

Yup, and thats why there are new ritualist and assassin skills that take up nightfall areas. In the future chapters, if they do the same thing, there will need to be so many bosses and so much confusion of where to find elite skills.

I can find the poll on these very forums that said that Factions was actually the least liked of the three, while Prophecies was among the best and Nightfall was a close second. I can find many other threads saying the same. I can show you evidence for my statements. Where's yours?

There we go. I knew I'd find the poll for it. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s... ll+nightfall

maybes if the devs would read our concept class forum they could continue to have fresh new classes until the apocalypse.

yes. much of it been discussed to depth of the virtues and vice of adding new professions. For a new player purchasing a new chapter, its not much of problem, as all will be new, but for a older player, the new prof is a mean to provide them with something new and fresh to play with, which translate in getting them to buy the game (and thats the bottom line)

If you can give us something, a new feature and such, good enough to make people still would want to buy the new chapters even with out new classes (or to generate the buzz), than sure.

Of you could check ou the concept class fourm to see the possiblites around.

Actually, I don't really mind not having new professions. I buy additional chapters for the campaigns and some new features. However, I feel that new professions have the advantage of capturing the attention of another segment of older players who are generally interested to play GW to try out different characters. Perhaps I'm alittle traditional, but I would have preferred ANet to roll out chapters as expansions but that may not be actually feasible with their business model.

I've seen a few ideas such as a tutorial island (in guru forums) which I feel are particularly useful for ANet if they are looking at releasing chapters as standalone. Since GW chapters can be played on their own, I feel that they should centralize some general content (such as tutorial) so that they don't compromise certain quality of the core gameplay as newer releases get introduced.

Having played through all 3 chapters, I do find NF better in comparison to Factions (which I felt was a heavily rushed job). My friends on the other hand was never able to appreciate this fact since they started with only NF, they weren't able to enjoy NF with heroes like me, who already have a variety of skills obtained (playing through previous chapters). Most of them have quit GW within the span of a week, something that another friend and I (who both started with Prophecies) couldn't comprehend. Honestly speaking, I feel that if we had recommended Prophecies instead, it may have helped to retained the interests more. I realised that I enjoyed Prophecies more since the scope of the game encouraged more freedom and with later chapters, linearity seems ot be the gist of the game and this did alot of my friends in when they started to ponder if they had to do this with a newer character and the answer was "yes".

Lastly, I would rather have GW chapters released as an expansion as I feel that helps to lengthen the game (assuming that this wouldn't be an issue to ANet's business model). In addition, I felt they could've sold professions and content in different ways with new content as an official expansion and professions as an add on.

Thats the problem. They can't add new features when they spend all their time on the new classes.

If they don't make new classes then perhaps this time they can change up the gameplay some.
