Hi,
I get very nasty stutter when using Skype to chat with fellow party members. Is there a way to lower the CPU priority on the GW client?
Or alternatively, what software do you guys recommend for voip? Renting or running a server isn't really an option.
Thanks
LOWER GW process priority to make Skype work

Task Manager, Processes tab.
If you right click on a process you can expand the option "Set Priority" in the context menu and select a new priority for that particular process.

This will not work. Guildwars uses a system that monitors its priority. I know of no way to force a priority. Guildwars will always run at normal priority when it is the focus on the screen.

There is a program that will force priority, or so I thought. But I saw it a while ago and don't remember the name.
But other than that, try setting skype higher...instead of GW lower. Or just get a better CPU. :p

Setting GW lower isn't a solution, the game always gets high priority, else it'll lag badly. Just use Ventrilo or Teamspeak, you can just host your own server or use a free one.

Hosting a Vent or TS server cost money AFAIK. But using one doesn't
I was told by technician never ever mess with the priority thing in Windows as it can mess certain things up real bad. Not sure how bad but I never touched that part ever again.

You can host a free TS or Vent server but there is a limit to the number of slots available. I believe it is around 8 or so. Works fine if your just using it for a single group but your not going to get a guild on it

How much RAM do you have? 64K???
Try setting skype to "high" priority. Not "realtime". end all unnecessary background applications (Antivirus, etc)
