I have seen like 3 threads floating around about anet going under. I mean I admit it's scary but I mean Anet is a company with CEO and stockholder's and all that jazz. This translates into they know what they're doing. I just wanted to know what is up with the upsurge of people wondering about Anet going under? Did Nightfall trigger this or what? They just sold 3,000,000 copies of Guild Wars so why are people worried about it going bankrupt.
Neo Nugget
i was wondering but im not worried at all. ihave absolute faith in anet i think people should just post under 1 thread not make others:P
Priest Of Sin
I seriously doubt Anet will go bankrupt.... at least for now. They make AT LEAST 50 bucks off each player, AT LEAST 150 bucks off players with every expansion. Plus they're attached to NCSoft, which makes tons o' money off people with it's CoV and CoH franchises. Unless they made Enron-calibur mistakes, you've got nothing to worry about.

It's christmas, everyone's thinking about the financial strain the festival season puts on us?
No idea why we're speculating that they'd go bankrupt.

the "attached to ncsoft" comment meant that NCSoft owned them. IE, Attached to them.
MMSDome
its that .001% of the people that come to forums with the negative mind of it actually happening. I wouldnt let it bother you, even if the servers shut down it wouldnt be for a very long time. Just have fun and enjoy the game now and ignore the threads!

okay on the business note How were Nightfall's sales?

People tend to think that the world revolves around them. So when these people get bored or dissatisfied, they automatically think that the game/game company will be in ruins just because they have a negative view of it.

dunno, but they just announced 3 million games sold.... so that there is about 150million dollars... (yes i know that isnt all profit, and they dont see a chunk of it) and thats what? a month and a half after nf's release? so 3 chapters 3 million sales... so theyre sellin about a million and change a chapter.... not too bad id say....
(Coh for example is sitting at around 150-200000 subscribers... and its considered semi successful...)
(Do not compare #'s to WoW... WoW is an exceptional example.... thats like saying that EA is going under cause madden 07 didnt sell as well as the new Halo....)

GW isn't doomed, it's just some ppl's GW experiences are threatend by friends and guildies leaving, and forgetting new players and guilds are still coming/formed every day. Same core gameplay is also getting a little repetitive for GW veterans who already have everything (skills, wep/armors etc.) from previous chapters. Bear in mind that new players tend to bond with other new players and have a wonderful time, while players in older guilds are not making that many new friends and naturally feel all gloom and doomed when their buddies leave. Have faith in Anet and GW, and pray they'll implement more fun features to keep it fresh for you. The key is, don't let others' leaving influence your decision to stay with the game, and try to make new friends. After all, GW's business model isn't like other MMORPG's, and isn't supposed to bind ppl to the game forever. Kinda like life itself, no one stays alive forever and new generation is bound to replace the old.

I think it's because we're bored and there isn't much else to talk about as far as Guild Wars goes..

i would never tell a lie and chicken mcnuggets are teh bomb fo sheezay

its not just 3 million overall
ANET sold 1 million *more* copies in the last 6 months since the June press release of 2 million
GW is selling well

You can think of it what you want, but this "rumor" has been rampant since I began playing a few months after release. Even at the upper limit of costs, three million units sold @ 50 dollars still is a net profit no matter if it is nightfall only or includes all chapters.
At some point it will be true - it has to be. No company or game lasts forever. Some may seem too (Lloyd's of London for instance), but in the long run no company will. But as of right now, the last Ncsoft financial statement had GW being a substantial source of net profits so it has at least one more chapter.

This thread has so much crazy talk in it, it's making my head bleed.
Did you really need to make a thread to talk about 3 other threads which in turn talk about something that just not true.
Guild Wars and other A.net games are selling well, they aren't going under lol
Someone please close this thread ^^

Regardless, I'm not under the impression they're selling poorly when they can afford to hold tournaments that give out thousands of dollars in cash prizes. ArenaNet's financial filings aren't public because they're part of NCSoft, they haven't made any public releases saying they're strapped for cash, they HAVE made several implying that they're doing well, which means any statements that they're going under are most likely rumor.
Kamatsu
Pointless guessing and conjecture concerning GW, the fate of ANet and discussion about other threads... Will go nowhere apart from around in circles.. thus...
