WOOT! Just saw the message about the Xunlai House thing on the main page. Now, I signed up even though I had a pretty bad chance of predicting the winner, and so I had resigned myself to not getting a wintergreen weap. Then you rockin folks at Anet surprise me and give us wintergreens for just participating! You guys rock, thankyou so much, and happy holidays/Merry Christmas or how ever you wanna say it! WOOT!

Sweet! I won a single one and I couldn't decide whether I was going to pick a staff or a sword. Now I'll just pick both.

You're very welcome! We're glad that you took part, and helped us test the system, and we're delighted to give you a little special something as a memento.

Well, now that that's over and done with, lets NEVER do it again. Real seasons are ftw, silly skill limited ones aren't... 1st on the ladder should count for something...

Also, it's a shame everyone gets wintergreens, defeats the purpose of giving them as prizes to the winners, as EVERYONE knows they were just gonna sell the Wintergreen Bows for millions. Ah well, now the weapons are worth nothing :|

Anything else you want to complain about? The shoelace length on the Warrior, perhaps? The hairstyles on the female something-or-other? It's called an "inclusive, special, fun season." It's not the deadly serious "play for a ton of money" season, and we can't offer that every month, and we won't make excuses or apologies for not doing so. Sometimes, the stakes are higher than others. Sometimes you want to involve as many players a possible, and hope that you reach out and bring in a whole lot of them. Which, I would say, we did.

I understand that the money thing would be impossible to do regularly, but a season with prizes that are actually exclusively for the winners would have been nicer...rather than 30,000 people getting them...

And yes, my Warriors shoe laces ARE too long.

Wow. You're complaining that everyone got a gift during the Christmas season instead of a few? Talk about being a Grinch.

Complain more please.

No, he's complaining because guilds and players who worked hard to earn their prizes are basically being rewarded at the same level as a few players who were able to correctly register themselves at the tournament house and guilds that got a cape trim for nothing more time consuming than an email to Anet listing a roster for the tournament. It's not particularly inspiring to see that greater effort does not equal greater reward, is it?

You got gold & silver cape trims for your effort. That's not good enough?

Please. Don't tell me you play this season's ladder JUST for the wintergreens...

Oh please... if you're really in a guild that's worth two craps, I'd hope you have a sense of something called "competitiveness" that is as much or more inspiring than any reward (either in- or out- of game).

You failed to read correctly. Every guild in the top 50 will receive at least the third level cape trim for nothing more on their part than sending a roster to ArenaNet. Combining both issues serves serves only to lesson the effort of the guilds that actually did play in the tournament and I can certainly understand the disgruntlement of some. (Please note, in neither of my posts have I stated my own position. I have simply clarified why some feel as they do.)

If there is any complaint here it's that every guild in the top 50 is getting a trim NOT that everyone who registered in the Xunlai House is getting a wintergreen item. It IS a Christmas item afterall.

And really, most PVPers dont give a crap that people can get the same holiday item in a different way. I sure don't.

Most PvPers may not, but there are some who do, otherwise we'd not see posts like Talon's.

LOL I have my opinions on this, but I'm not gonna complain. It's not that important. Gold trim is reward enough for first place. Merry Christmas everyone! Can't wait to see what other presents we get.

I really don't appreciate guilds who didn't participate getting capes that they don't deserve.......... Also, my guild had to use henchmen because of a hurricane that knocked half of our teams power out. I asked 2 admins if we could just withdraw and still get capes like the teams who only submitted rosters and I was flat out ignored. So yea... some of our players got up at ungodly hours like 2AM to sit around henchwaying for 5 hours just so we get capes. Instead of designating that X-Y ranked tournament place gets a certain item they should just give 1,2,3..8 item choices~~~ same as for the Xunlai House.

Ward Against Noobzz was one guild I was thinking of who, in my opinion, are certainly entitled to some disgruntlement. Poor Chaos Sanctuary, with their time zone making tournament play ~1-3am for them as well, also clearly have a leg to stand on. If they couldn't just go back to sleep and get capes, then all those other top 50s who sent a roster shouldn't get capes either.

I guess it just wouldn't be Guru if people didn't start complaining, but c'mon! did anyone really expect some big, serious, uber-leet, exclusive prize for winning or participating in a contest with Wintersday in the title????

Wintersday is, by definition, just for the fun of it!

To those that played or tried to play in the battles and had unfortunate real-life complications, I'm sorry, really. That sux.

To those that are complaining about their wintergreen rewards being less exclusive and therefore not a sufficient reward ... how's this for a reward? Thanks to the activities ANet offered, people who normally wouldn't think twice about anything to do with PvP got interested in the battles you guys were fighting! I'll bet you had bigger audiences than any PvP battles ever before. People watched you play, and maybe, just maybe some of them saw things they'd never thought of. Maybe your games inspired more people to try PvP. That seems like a pretty cool uber-leet reward. You guys should be proud of that!

So, from all us die-hard PvE'ers out there that never gave it a thought before, thanks to ANet for luring us in to watch, and thanks to all the players for the fights we got to see and the new ideas to ponder!

And to the people complaining because their wintergreen items aren't going to be worth as much ecto now ... oh, just booooo! You'll have to farm extra candy canes over Christmas break, so very sad.

I still say ANet's response of letting everyone get a little just-for-fun wintergreen item shows a lot of class on their part. So, again, well played ANet!

Cheers all & Happy Holidays!

Looks like the outcome on this event/project went very well. I was not able to be a part of it but regurdless, I have nothing to complain about. It looked fun, people had a good time and I hope Anet does alot more things like this! Two thumbs up in my opinion. And congratulations to everyone who participated and won!

Happy Holidays everyone!
