I have a question for all the people who bought FoW armor for their characters before the Inscription system was introduced.
Dont you guys feel a little bit cheated? All that hard work and now some of the armors are no longer even considered gaming grade?

Why would you feel cheated?

As long as they bought a decent stat set (eg they didn't go and buy Plate or Knights for their warrior, and bought Gladiators) then why should they feel cheated? Their armour is, and always will be, usable.

Some of the new inscriptions made the old armors a bit obsolete. Sorta think its not fair. Spend 4+ mil in items for armor that isnt the best it can be...

if you can afford fow you can afford anouther set (not necesarly fow) to have the new stats on

When they nerfed knights as a universal absorption, thats the only time i think people felt cheated (i would have felt cheated too!).

The only new INSIGNIAS (Inscriptions are for weapons) that are superior over the old one, imo is radiant insignias for elementalists, since they never had +energy armor in the previous versions.

But the rest of the new insignias dont really offer anything thats imbalanced or overtly powerful vs the old versions.

Druids/Gladiator/Ascetic/Scar/Enchanters will always be the best all armor armor stats, imo.

+ energy ftw ^_^

Was it ever suppose to be the best it could be? Or just the best looking for prophecies? Maybe it was just suppose to be a money sink all along, because the stats were never different than any other armor in prophecies.

Nightfall generally devauled most weapons. I used to make most of my money off open trade but I feel as though its not worth it anymore.

Nightfall added more weapon skins.

This in turn changed what people wanted to buy, since there may be weapons from nightfall thats more desirable for some people.

Before the release of Nightfall, Golden Phoenix Swords were high desired, now, not as much.

The more skins they add, the more options people have, the less desirable some skins become.

THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED.

Only the truly rare and classically wanted of skins will retain their value over the addition of more skins, simply because they are just good skins to begin with.

Out with the old, in with the new. Only the true classics will stay forever.

I like to parallel the Guild War's weapon market to the stock market or maybe cars.

Some cars are good when they come out. They last for a while. Then a new version comes out, or a better rival car comes out. However some cars will NEVER lose their value, simply because they are: Classics, highly desirable, or truly rare.

You can't expect the value of your weapon to stay forever, since there will be more and more skins coming in the future.

My advice: Keep up with whats good and whats not. This means watching what people buy and playing the market properly. Some weapons are reliable in keeping their value. Some are not.

Although i must ask you, why do you care how other people value your equipment?

It really is silly that people complain about the "value" of weapons in the monetary sense. If you can a use for the weapon in combat who the hell cares how much it's worth in gold?

I don't feel cheated when it comes to inscriptable armor parts as the fow ascetics vestment has +8 energy and the inscr. +5 energy. So add a radiant inscription on the inscriptable one and you get the same. The only drawback would be not having the choice to put for example a +10 armor when enchanted on the old fow versions but I use ascetic all the time anyway. Like Lyra Song posted earlier, it's a different matter for ele armor.

I felt cheated when they changed the dye setup of monk fow overnight without warning the public. So I couldn't dye my two last spare parts (which I bought after that notorious update) in the shiny blue anymore. I even contacted support and got 5 different gm's to look into the matter but they couldn't help me out. I ended up salvaging those 2 spare parts (vest and legs) and got 18 ecto's and 18 shards back which I gave to my best real life friend. I couldn't stand those two parts being different anymore. gg

On a positive side, nobody can get this colour anymore and it feels unique and people regurarly ask me how the hell I got that colour. So for me it's way more valuable than a new set of fow.

The de-globalisation of knights bothered me because the armour stopped functioning as it did when I made the decision, and I was forced to fork out another 15 ecto/shards to replace my boots. With that exception, the fow I bought then works exactly the same as when I chose to buy it, and is as good as any inscriptable armour with radiant insignias, so no I don't feel cheated.

In regards to the low IQ flame-bait; I got my ranger's fissure armour through trading kuunavang when it was still going for 100k.

In regards to OP: Not really. I mean, yeah, I'd like it to be inscribable, but at the same time, druids armour is for general purpose just better than the other types. Besides, as a beast master, I don't often get hit anyway, so I don't need the extra elemental protection anyway.

I hear ya, I am getting close to recreating my rangers dyemix (classic silver+remover) - but the teal I used on my monk seems just impossible with only 4 bottles of "new" dye. I try to calm myself down by the fact that noone else will be able to make this armor and thus' the peak of individuality is reached... yet I still feel sad that I can't continue my colour on future sets.

Back to topic...
When they first changed the name on the fow-armor into Obsidian [...] I somehow knew that my old armor will most likely never see an update - so it doesn't surprise me to see wether an upgrade npc nor anything similar after the introduction of the insignia system.

Old obsidian armor should be updated to work with insignias. You're right, it's not fair for those who got theirs before nightfall was released. I'm glad I got the energy one and will never have to change it, but others might need more versatile armor.

lol....sorry! Being cheeky. To me most FoW armor just looks plain horrible. Monk is "ok"...but there's nothing special about it. Female Necro is "ok" but the only one I would ever get myself is Female Mesmer. Saw it in white the other day - it is teh win.

Try yellow +white - or yellow + silver - or brown + white.

And you were never able to mix more than 4 bottles of dye, even before the update. Adding a 5th dye to a mix simply dropped the first color from the mix.

I bought only the Knights warrior helm, insignias would be great but the 200k needed to replace that single peice is not worth it(believe it or not most people earn the money legitimatly) i wonder when ANET will stop screwing the old players.
