Yes it's that time of the year again dear Tyrians. The Maddest and most arrogant Queen of all, and her loyal twisted elves, bring you a wonderful Wintersday event. This time no give-away, but a deadly snow-covered marathon! The marathon exists of 3 different races, which all take place in the Shiverpeaks. For the first race anyone can join, but you can only join with one character of your choice. All proffesions are welcome!
But, only the winners of the first race are allowed entry into the second. And only the finalists of that second race, are allowed entry into the third and final race.
The first race is this Friday at:
8 PM (that's in the evening folks) CET (Central European time, France, Germany Belgium, Holland).
Or 7 PM for London
and 5 hours earlier for Central America (If my timezones are correct).
Players are invited to gather at Yak's Bend for the first race in international 1. Here you may join a party with any of the Queen's elves... or perhaps the Queen herself.
The track:
A relatively easy run, but the foul Stone Summit and dangerous Minotaurs in this area will add some hazard to this course. Players are free to choose what ever route they think is quickest. The line on the map is just a simple impression of the general route players will run.
Rules and regulations:
-Players will line up at a line determined by the referee (one of the elves) at every zone along the way. This is to prevent losses due to an unfortunate lag spike.
-Players will only start running once the Elf sacks herself to death. She will then monitor the race from observer and note the winner of that particular race.
-Players who don't run but simply wait for another player to zone, are disqualified.
-Anything goes. Spirits of Muddy Terrain ARE allowed to hinder your opponents. So is aggroing monsters to your fellow runners. Survival of the fittest! You can even bring pets along for the ride.
-Winners of each race will be mentioned on the forums so other players can keep track of the race. By joining the marathon you accept that your name will be posted. (Hey, it's something to be proud of) If you have objections to your name being quoted, then don't join the race.
-The referee has the final call. The elves and the Queen can disqualify a player at will.
-The elves and the Queen will be present in the districts for a long time after the official starting time. If they are not there, you'll just have to wait till a current race has finished.
-Entry is free of charge. Don't pay anyone, the entire event is completely free. Of course the elves welcome any donations, but they don't expect anything in return for this event.
-Starting times are subject to change. If they are adjusted, you'll find it in this thread.
-Bring your Wintersday spirit.
The prize is still a secret, but suffice to say it will be worth the relatively small effort of three runs. The Mad Queen shall be handing out the prize personally at the heighest peak of Beacon's Perch on sunday. The other two races will take place on saturday (Droknar's Forge to Iron Mines of Moladune) and sunday (Camp Rankor to Beacon's Perch. YES! A reverse Droknar run!).
So put those extra warm boots on, wrap yourself in an extra furry cloak, and start practising! The Queen and her elves await the Champion of Running.

Fortunately the races are held for several hours. So if you can't make it exactly, then you might be home just in time to join when the elves return for more marathon goodness.
