I played Guild Wars during it's original release, and never did quite make it very far into the game. For some reason, it just did not capture my interest.
In any case, I have returned to the game. I have installed the original Guild Wars, Factions, and Nightfall, and am extremely impressed so far with what I have played. Coming from World of Warcraft (which I still do play actively), the game is quite different with instancing and questing, and, although the game does seem very easy to pick up and learn, I do have some questions, if I may?
1. I am not quite sure I understand the concept of crafting in this game. The way I understand things, I will need to purchase a number of salvage kits, break down monster drops using these kits to get crafting items, and then bring these items to a crafter to make me items? Is there a good, online guide I can read to understand this process?
2. What are identification kits used for?
3. I understand collectors can give you items based upon item collections. Do these collectors give you quests, or do you just collect a number of items and then see who is interested in them? Is there an online guide to collections I could read?
4. If I create a character from either Factions or Nightfall, can I port that character to the original Guild Wars Ascalon setting, and then play through the 3 campaigns with this character? The Paragan fascinates me... and likewise, can I build a Monk in the original Ascalon setting, and play through the other 2 campaigns with the 1 character?
5. I am not quite sure I understand capturing of skills/spells. I need to obtain a signet for each spell I want to capture, but I am a little unsure as to what I need to do to capture and elite spell from monster. In addition, I understand spells can be earned by doing quests, but also from monster drops? This whole concept has me confused (I am used to the WoW concept of profession trainers).
6. How can I obtain more bag space?
Thank you all for your patience and for your kindness as I learn the ropes.
