Nobody mentioned the new Auction system yet?

The only problem with this 'auction house' is that you can only describe one item at a time. The field is far too short to do otherwise.
The whole idea with throwing the items to an npc and actually having an auction then picking up the gold later on from it when it's sold would be a better option.

Wow, 3 pages and no-one has noticed the Heros and Henchmen tabs. No more running around towns trying to find the henchies.
The new party window friggen ROCKS man!

The addition of auction in the party window is a clever and superb idea. Well done Anet. Don't want to sound unappreciative but a filter would be great too. But besides that, thanks very much for what we've got already.

Best wintersday present ever!

Love it 2, but could do with 3 enhancements. Gaile If you are reading this.
1: Lengthen the description from 32 Chars to 64 Chars.
2: If Possible make trade a global thing. (Think that would mean more server space but you never know ^^)
3: Multiple Trade descriptions?
Anyways big + on the party search

It's nice
But the traders made it so it's already more a trade window than a party search window! like the illegitimate child of the general chat channel and the long awaited auction house. :/

anyways, i love the new party window too, especially that you can just add the hench to ur party from whereever u r standing.. u won't believe how many times it happened that i ran to a door and forgot to add henchmen and had to run all the way back to the other side of a town to go 'n get them. thats a huge improvement!!
only point to do though: add some filter system to the party window (for example buying-tabs, selling-tabs), it's pretty hard having to search for a party when you see french or german districts before you even see the english ones (where you are in at that moment... so maybe: English-tab, German-tab, French-tab??). it's all mixed up right now
other than that, good job Anet!

I was expecting a lot less, I'm very impressed with this. I can see this becomming used more for trading in large trade centers than actual party formation. I mean, how many missions have more than one district at a time?
This will definately help in ToA, DoA and popular places like that though, but the real benefiet IMO is the ability to find sellers/buyers.

my idea for this would be to drag your weapon into the description text area and it'd come up with the details for it.

I love the new party/trade system, but it's a shame that every little 12 yr old twerp out there has to make some cyber sex wannabe thing from it. It's really just a sad thing to see the community use this great gift in this way.

I do not play wow but one thing they did get right was the auction house. |
I played Star Wars:Galaxies for a while and they also had the auction house you could put items in and walk away from. There were still people spamming to try and get impulse shoppers to buy from them (or selling services) but at least I didn't have to participate in that.
A.Net did an excellent job with NF and their events are always fun. New features are always a good thing but I fail to understand why this one thing is so hard for them to implement. I mean, I could code them a web based one right now with only my meager skills, and they've had a couple years.
Don't get me wrong. I don't hate A.Net for not doing it. I don't think it's my divine right to have one. I just wish someone would let those of us who are sincerely curious as to the 'why?' of it know their reasoning for not creating an auction merchant who can take your item, be browsed by others, and sell your stuff for what you want to sell it for.
Compared to all the other things they've done, it seems like such a simple thing and I, for one, would really love to know why the reality of it isn't......

Lol auction house...where is the actual "auction" at? I haven't used this yet, but I don't see it cutting down on trade spamming. Still won't complain as I don't see it hurting anything either :P

It's great; but it should be more advanced: Own page for party and wts/wtb. And we should be allowed to write more text about the item.. It's way too short. And there should be a system that could make you go afk, so you dont have to SIT and WATCH the chat if someones buying....

I have found it to be quite useful so far, completed 2 trades already using this new system last night.
One suggestion would be to add a sorting feature to filter out the spam. The search feature is good, but I don't think that will be enough. A sorting feature that will let you view separately people looking for mission, quest, or trade would be a very welcome addition to this new interface.
But one step at a time, I suppose

Sorry, an auction house this is not. I've already seen a fair amount "will cyber for 500g/minute" ads. I like the improvements for what they are, but GW is still lacking in terms of trade systems when you compare it to other titles out there.
Myria
Calling this an auction system is stretching the definition well past the point of breaking. Then again, the same is true of calling it an LFG system. WTS/WTB and general spam will ensure its utility for grouping is close to nil. A pity, but somehow less than surprising.

The point is I don't want to take away from my game time just to try and sell something. This is far from an auction house. |
Same here. It's a step toward the right direction, however there's a lot of crap in it now. Lots of "WTB your mom", Quest - Looking to cyber for 500g/min, and there was a MILF hunter LFG last night. -_-
In that grinding game that has 7 million subscribers, you'd actually have to put money up if you bid on an auction. I suspect it's the same if you wanted to sell an item. Which would be great because there is no item in the game called "your mom"
Theus
All the trade system needs now is the ability to put something up for trade for a specific amount of gold while you go on and play the game.
Then, and only then, will it be perfect.

-Global trade feature with Chapter availability filtering.
-Global mission-join feature with availability requirements.
Select a mission, and have a feature to advertise "Looking for more" to those that can do it.
-Global quest-join feature with availability requirements.
Select a quest, and have a feature to advertise "Looking for more" to those that have the quest.
Essentially, this system can be expanded indefinitely for now. Dozens of features that would help GW players do things they would otherwise feel discouraged in doing with a lack of people.

the party search window has been updated again:
www.guildwars.com:
"Update - Thursday December 21
- Removed the purpose column from the Party Search panel and added collapsible purpose groups instead.
- Added a new “Guild” purpose to Party Search.
- Added an option to filter out other language districts from the Party Search panel. This feature is available only in Europe."
i just checked the search window and there's a lot more overview now!! thank you anet for the fast fix, the search window pwns now

This is pure assumption; and an assumption that has grown from conversations between friends/guildies. But Anet seems scared to death (or in better wording, flat refuses to vs scared) adapt anything from any MMO in thier attempt to keep GW from being like an MMO.
Anything that any other game has done "right", we can expect not to see in GW. This doesn't mean GW wont do something as well (or as good), it's just GW has to have it done differently. Sadly, this all too often means it's not as good in the players eyes as it is not familiar.
From what I understand, WoW now has a simlar updating "stream" for patching; ala GW. Meaning, Blizzard felt the Anet updating was better and adapted a like system. Anet does not seem to agree with adapting; only in creating.
On the topic of Auction or Trading systems; EQII, WoW, Star Wars Galaxies and so many others... well, they've done it right. So, if Anet were to finally add something like that in, and looking at the other additions they've done in the past, we can expect not to see anything "done right" (or, "As seen on") for the Auction/Trade. Doesn't mean it wont work, just means it will be different. For all we know, it could end up being better than what's been done before or really really bad. We just don't know.
Edit: I didn't mean to quote anyone... clicked the wrong button. - hey it's early still.

I'm a bit worried the trade spam will spill in to the other categories if a filter or breaking down each request in to separate tabs. Just like WTS/WTB spilled in to local chat with the ability to turn off the trade chat.
I'd rather have where I can click on type and it sorts the requests. Curious to see how they tweak it at time goes on.
I do like the new function.
