es. you can trancert how many jump are between you and arenanet server.
but probabily if you know what is trancert you could find the ip address even without this feature.

it used be disabled on the gw servers maybe they fixed it

It has to do with the reconect update that was implemented, by remembering your IP adress they can reconect you to where you were.

That is not your ip address, it is the server you are connecting to, so that they may address connection issues on specific servers.

That IP address is the GW server's IP, not your own. GG.

You wouldn't want a public IP like that pingable. With the common knowledge of that, someone running a ping of death would be crippling to the server. Routers are easily configured to ignore pings.
