In the In-game store, in the upgrades section, you can buy a upgrade for about $5 US to get those Game Of The Year bonus items which you can create as many times as you like on any character on that account the same way you create preorder items.

Heroes connected to a certain character CAN use items customized for that character only. Just as Heroes are specific to EACH toon in your account, same are customized items, therefore Anet has logically allowed them to use our customized loot!
Good thing too, cause all my caster heros use the SpiritBinder, the Factions collector item staff. LoL, kinda nice that they all get 10/10, +15 energy...

I just simply bought a set of greens and collector items with upgrades for my heroes.and I keep moving them from 1 character's heroes to another character's heroes

It's nice to have these items for the heros, but I was pretty dissapointed that I couldn't mod any of these.
Gaile, any chance these might become mod-able? The skins are great but useless without upgrades.. dunno. =(

Yoo bad you cant upgrade those bonus-items anymore. The nevermore bow *was* nice too, but as it has no bowgrip (and you cant add one anymore) it is now useless

Collector items+Rit pre order staff FTW.
Most of my hero Warriors on various characters gotten shields and weapons that I did not use anymore with my Warrior and they were just sitting on mules.
Casters got the Ritualist Factions pre order staff, excpet a couple of them where they got excess greens.
Farmed Hydras for some claws and got desert collector short bows for all the hero Rangers.
