As I click on the buried treasure this is what I received, 2 plat and a diamond.

The items are random, I think you can get anything of the "treasure chests" and also some gold/platinum. Plus, you don't need any keys for them.

There is a chest near the Acolyte of Balthazar in that building, nice find on this one

It seems that their spawning locations aren't random, they appear at the exact same spot every time.

I wonder how long before folks start doing buried treasure runs....

(Or prehaps someone thought ahead and you can't

They appear in the same spot every time, but I think you can only open them once. I tried doing it twice in a row, second time I got nothing. The chest I was going for was the one next to Acolyte of Balth.

I've tried both a few times and only recieved an item the first time on each.

The one in the OP is next to where you cap Ebon Dust Aura.

I think you can only receive something from them once per character. I went out to the same spot with my Warrior and she received 2k.
