It seems that their spawning locations aren't random, they appear at the exact same spot every time.

They appear in the same spot every time, but I think you can only open them once. I tried doing it twice in a row, second time I got nothing. The chest I was going for was the one next to Acolyte of Balth.

can sum1 plz post a map of where any treasure chests they found are located? sry, i dont really know where that statue is.. and is that the only chst ppl haf found so far, the one "near Balthazar statue"?

I think you can only receive something from them once per character. I went out to the same spot with my Warrior and she received 2k.

There's one spot in the Mirror of Lyss located near the Dervish boss, Shezel Slowreaper.

There's a chest in the Temple of the Monoliths (most SW point in Sulfurous Wastes)

I found a small fort with several Monoliths, it contained a chest that gave me crap. I think all the chests have 100% gold drops.

The buried Treasure is in Mirror of Lyss, The other two that have been found by these people are Treasure Chests.

I think these chests have an incredibly high chance of dropping with perfect drops. Moreso than regular golds, definitely.

Went over to the chest near Balthazar and the one in the Mirror of Lyss. About 2plat, a ruby, and a perfect gold healing offhand
Since we're already seeing quite a few gems drop, I'm hoping the prices of rubies and sapphires(and diamond) will go back down and make Vabbi Armor more in line with the other 15K armors.

Nice addition, got to go and try to find them as well. This does add some form of replayability to existing areas without causing farm runs to tank the economy and make exploration worthwhile again

2,574 hours of game play. Never seen a +30 Health Sword Pomel. Just unlocked it with one of these chests
