Please help, My D/mo Sucks!
Spaz000
Please help me. I have a d/mo that is the exact opposite of a tank. I am constantly dying and don't know what to change. My skills are: Vital Boon, Pious Assault, Heart of holy Flame, Chilling victory, Victorious sweep, Pious Restoration, Mystic Twister, and Lightbringer's gaze. The first four i've had forever but the last 4 have been swapped out numerous times. I will be happy to change my secondary profession. In game name: Sven Torvald
Coloneh
A great D/Mo build is a build with at least 15 mysticism spamming prot enchantments.
try mysticism: 16/////Protection prayers: 9////// Scythe mastery: 9(plus any runes you feel like)
for skills take avatar of dawayna as your elite and a few 5 energy protection enchantments. the best choices are usually reversal of fortune, Shield of absorbtion, and guardian. just spam these on yourself ALOT.fill the rest of the bar with some scythe attacks any have a pretty decent build.

I run 16 scythe, 12 mystic, 7 wind, and the rest in prot.
Spam shield of abs and reversal of fortune with avatar of dwayna on and you can survive decently while being immune to hexes. Add mending touch in there and one button eats 2 hexes and one condition.

^^^Not sure that build is great...but sometime I will try this. Its not a standard derv cookiecutter...thats for sure. But by going with this build, you don't get to use the awsome Mystic Regen or Conviction. I have my doubts.
To the Op...in order to tank, the rest of your party has to stay out of the agro circle and you cannot move. Once you move, you lose the agro. Now, once you move and you lose agro, the mobs seem to go for characters who have less armor, less health, and less health regen. Is your armor max? Where are you dieing? (what area are u in?) How many monks go along with you?
Generally, a derv is usually not the primary tank. But if you are the primary, you can get the most tanking from this:
at least 8 in earth, and 9 in mysticism.
Avatar of Balthazar, Conviction, Mystic Regeneration, Vital Boom, Signet of Pious Light, Aura of Thorns, Aura of Sanctity, Rebirth/Resurect. This combo will give you +64armor, +12 regen, and +15 or so damage reduction. Plus a spike heal.

I am aware of the mystic regeneration / conviction combo but I like to think of builds outside of this. Like I said before, the game seems to force you to play earth prayers for any sort of decent survival. However the best snares and movement skills are in wind. If you are going to go wind prayers for more mobility and utility skills, protection prayers and other skills from your secondary are your only hope for survival. For a build that doesn't rely on mystic regeneration like the other 58495036720367985620346 dervish builds out there, this one does quite decently.
Mystic regen is due for a nerf anyway, im adapting early. Its going to get bashed into the ground because of the stoneflesh tank abuse.

Already posted, lemme just c/p:
Juggernaut RA/PvE build
15 Mysticism
12 Scythe (but can be 14, another sup rune wont hurt much at all)
8 Protection Prayers
(20% longer enchants on a scythe is a must for 99% Dervish builds)
Reversal of Fortune
Protection Spirit
Crippling Sweep
Chilling Victory
Heart of Fury
Mending Touch
Avatar of Dwayna [E]
Rez
Prot spirit can be kept on more or less all the time. It works wonders in high end pve. I also keep watching party box to drop it on any ally who needs it (same with RoF).
Chilling Victory does cold dmg even when you're blind. If you think this skill is only good in PvE and not in RA, think again. I was totally suprised how many people cluster there, letting the scythe smack like 2-3 of them plus their spirits if any.
Spamming RoF while under Prot spirit and Dwayna, does wonders. If someone is attacking you (which is especially frequent in PvE) you waste zero energy every 2sec to "get" 165hp (50 dwayna + 50/50 rof + 15mysticism heal). I cant possibly imagine why someone will want a warrior tank (in PvE), except in some rare areas (DoAnguish for instance). Yes i had monsters using their disenchants on me, but it didnt hurt me since i spammed prot spirit back on.
In FoW i switch Mending Touch for Watchful Intervention.

Some people in PvE laugh when you want to fill the tank role they need. One group leader rejected me today in FoW because im "dervish" which is weak, and they need a real warrior (preferably with mending of course). This is annoying, but it also means that i can detect bad groups easier and not join em.
The truth is that in PvE Dervish will deal a lot more dmg than a warrior, and it will tank 3x better than a warrior, in 99% PvE areas. Of course, a well-played Dervish, not someone who randomly put skills on the bar.
Whenever im in a group with another tank (ie warrior), he dies, while i dunnot. I also aggro mobs first and hold em, because i have higher survivability. When he tries to do what i do, warrior dies. I can tank FoW mobs much faster and more efficiently, because SS and mark of pain magically disappear of me instantly. A warrior either relies on a monk, or simply waits it out, cause i noticed a lot of monks dont remove those hexes or remove them very slowly. A blind warrior is useless. A blind dervish will still cause aoe burning once in a while with Heart of Fury, he will still cause tons of aoe dmg with Chilling Victory (cold dmg hits regardless of blind) etc. Most PvE areas are crowded, scythe doing aoe attacks is great. Also, the number of warriors with IAS in PvE from what i've seen is very very low, which means that in practice my scythe is hitting *faster* than sword/axe (with no ias).
All in all, Dervish is overpowered in PvE, compared to warrior (with the exception of the abovementioned 1% areas). The good thing is, that most people are noobish and not familiar with more than 1-2 professions, and hopefully Dervish doesnt get nerfs... and it wont considering that skills are mostly balanced for PvP. Awesome.
