I'm currently weilding a golden phoenix blade with a diamond aegis. I'm also considering buying a fiery gladius to go with the diamond aegis. But which sword matches the best with vabbian armor?

why can't it be here? this forum is for everything about pve.

besides, sword is not just for IW. Just the 20% enchantment mod is good for many builds.

What about a sparkly Zodiac?

There aren't many mes spells that require a +20% enchanting.

I suppose a +5 energy and +30 health or +5 armor sword would be nice though. HCT isn't really needed for mesmers and HSR is too unreliable.

I don't think Dead Sword will match Vabbian dress's glamous look

I second the Zodiac Sword.

We need some more elegant looking weapons. A rapier would compliment the 15k enchanters set beautifully IMO.

No, it's the Zodiac sword at the beginning of an IW cast.

Can someone explain to me why mesmers use swords in the first place?

Unconditional +5 energy and +30HP in a one handed weapon makes swords attractive.

5+12(focus) = 17 additional energy which is two energy higher than anything staves could offer at the time.

A wand could do the same but the +5^50 bonus was liable to disappear when you most needed it so the sword mods came out on top. Damage dealt by wanding was negligible, so swords became ideal caster weapons.

However, since Nightfall's release, new customizable options on two-handed weapons and the addition of spears have lessened the necessity of swords on the battlefield. I would upgrade from that Zodiac Sword if I knew of any awesome or at least comparable spear skins. That sword cost me a pretty penny after all.

i <3 the gothic sword, its not tapered, thin, long and elegant. its classic and looks amazing in the "ready" pose (just after a cast)

i have the vabbian dress but have to say the hose are by far the best part - the leg garters are amazing to add to most outfits.

So any one-handed weapon would be suited for a mesmer, correct?

The reason you use a wand is for the Halves skill recharge mod on it, so you can get the double (or 36%, whatever) on the mesmer's best skills. I always use a wand on a mesmer for that reason alone, and even on low energy sets I'll still use one with the -5 energy mod attached.

I think the people who had HSR on their foci went with +5 weapons.
Actually upon reading the wiki it seemed it was more common for 55monks to use energy weapons, especially ones with +20% enchanting upgrades. It kinda makes sense. I totally forget the +20% enchanting.

Now that I think about it, it really depends on your build. The Me/Rt Vengeful Farmer and Me/D Symbols of Inspiration Healer would use a +5 energy/+20% enchanting weapon, as the energy is tight and enchantment durations need to be as high as possible.

Well I will anyhoo!
Symbols of Inspiration Mystic Healer
The beginning is a concept Arrendondo had, it starts to take definition towards the middle where he tweaks what skills are in the build and leaves a good amount of optional slots to play around with. It's kinda hectic, but I like it so far!
