Last Friday, 12-15-2006, my computer and Guild Wars stopped cooperating with each other. I have defragged my HD and gw.dat, updated direct-x as well as drivers for my nic, vid and sound card as well as getting all current M$ Windoze updates (the drivers I updated with were from the respective manufacturer not MS). I have run AdAware, SpyBot Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster is installed. And I have lowered my graphic settings down to nothing and even reset my Linksys and did a complete reinstall of gw but the game is unplayable unless I use the -nosound switch. Up until last Friday I have played with little or no trouble and only 2 or 3 007's in the past 12 months.
For those of you who have expierenced this, what did you do to solve it?
The computer I built myself and it is, P4/2.2, 1.5G RAM, XP Pro SP2 and current patches, NVIDIA 6200 256M, Turtlebeach 5.1 sound card, and of course a 10/100 NIC on a 4M cable connection. While gaming I do not use a firewall or antivirus and I have all auto updates disabled.
Must use -nosound to play
Eadric
X-Bomb
nothing wait till arenanet decides its a real problem, cause apparently its not despite LOADS of people having the same problem, ive had this since the very first gw sound update. I just had to live with it because support cant find a way to solve it.
