Wintersday A Bust?
korcan
compared to the dragon festival and halloween there seem to be far fewer districts [im on american servers] for wintersday. i missed last years wintersday so i dont have a frame of reference but does wintersday this year seem like a bust? im sure there will be more people flocking to wintersday outposts on the final day to pick up the festival hats but atm wintersday doesnt seem as popular as previous events.

Well, first off it is the holidays. Many many many people go on vacations during this time. Also, theres fewer districts because its spread out between 5 towns. The dragon festival was one town, and halloween was 2 towns. Thats why there were so many districts.

A lot of people are probably out of town and don't have access to GW elsewhere.

The Ernada
And the Wintersday festival is stretched out longer than the other festivals.

Why do people always have to percieve problems where they don't exist?
People are with Family.
People are Farming Candy Cane Shards
People are in Snowball Arena Matches
People Realize that the event is building towards a climax on January 1st.
New items and npcs will continue to arrive. Regardless, I'm having a blast with what Arenanet has offered. If it reaaly bothers you, you could log off and pretend to write a post on how Arenanet doesn't nice freebies to its loyal customer base.
'Nuff said.

I don't know where you're playing but every wintersday area is bustling with people asking questions about it and having fun.
Dauntless
Winterday is spread across 4 outposts; LA, Droks, Ascalon and Kamadan. The dragon festival was only in the Monastery I believe and Halloween was in LA and Kamadan. It seems like a bust to you because its more spread out.

Unlike those events, Wintersday is longer, and most of the content isn't even in yet.
During the Jan 1st districts will fill up as normal.
The holidays are also starting to affect prices, with materials and runes dropping due to decreased demand.
Wintersday last year only involved Prophecies, and even at that it wasn't much busier. There was more activity due to novelty, but places like Bergen are just as busy as they were last year (both, farmers and quests groups).
So, it's normally populated.

Might have something to do with the fact there isnt actually anything to do in the outposts yet. Except collect quests and get transported to snowball.

this is such a pointless thread i dont know where to start..
is winters day over? ok, then shut it.

Many ppl are out in the explorable areas all over Elona looking for free treasure chests, so number of districts in cities doesn't reflect total people playing. Plus, there will be a much lower turn out for hat because of that hat-copying npc. It's all what Anet had planned.

Yeah I agree, there are people on holiday so they wont be on guildwars as actively as... well, I wouldn't have expected the districts to be so full. Unlike the other two events where you wouldn't expect many to go out.
cosyfiep
people are farming for candy cane collector items....or doing the quests....nolani was quite full today
