Ok. With this massive influx of people new to the snowball arena, there are so many clueless teams more experienced players get stuck with, ya just wanna cry, or kill them, or both.

So here I am to lend to the newer players some basic tips on how to play to win.

Three basic rules:
1.) Presents > Kills.

This is NOT random arenas, despite the setup. There is a freaking goal. Get those presents to your avatar at almost all costs and intercept enemy present carriers. No more having a "who dies faster" contest with that idiot on the other team, especially when someone has a present and is being mobbed by the other three enemy team members, get over there and HELP THEM.

2.) BE IN RANGE

God, I can not stress this point enough. I have seen WAY to many people throw a "hidden rock" laiden snowball, only to be 10-15 feet away and not able to grab the present.

People if you're gonna use up the hidden rock attack or any KD attack, BE IN RANGE to grab the bloody present.

3.) Cover each other.

Seriously, I don't know how time I've lost matches because my team split up and keep dying in 1v2 or 1v3 fights. If one of your guys has a present, 1 guys should be right next to him, preferable a warrior shouting "Let's get em!" whenever available. Another should be disruptting enemy attacks best they can. The Fourth player should be keeping an eye out on the other side of the map for any new presents.

If attacking an enemy present carrier, two should be in range to grab, bodyblocking also, the third should be keeping any defensive enemies at bay. If you manage to wrestle the present from the enemy carrier (see rule 2), get him back to base using the above tactics of how to cover a present carrier.

Other tips:

-Dwayna's Team is rigged, but not invincible, Grenth's followers must play farther apart to avoid becoming all crippled at once, interruptions are far more important, try and stop Dwayna players from using avalanche or hidden rock.

-Use Avalanches properly. If you're a Dwayna player, use that AoE cripple the right way. Target enemy present carriers, or enemies who are racing you to the present. Also, enemies pursuing your carrier are good targets.

-The Ice Fort is useful, use it if you need to prep another "hidden rock" in the middle of a firefight, it will protect you from most everything while you do.

-Ice forts do NOT protect presents. If you have a present, run, just run. If you sit in an ice fort, you won't take dmg, but a "hidden rock" snowball will make you drop the present.

-Judging speed. If you're glancing up at your minimap for an indication of what to do next, check for enemy dots moving away from present points at a slower then normal rate. These are probably enemies carrying prsents, investigate and if need be INTERCEPT THEM.

-Interception paths. If you are far away from a present carrier leaving an outer present drop site, cut across the ice river in front of them, don't try to play catch up from behind. The sooner you're causing them trouble, the less they travel. If it's an inside point and you know they'll reach the present first, let them, instead get across the ice river and wait for them on their shore, it's risky but now they're, hopefully, surrounded.

I really, really, REALLY, hope this guide improves performaces in there cause, frankly, it's really painful to watch, and even worse to play right now.

good tips.

i just got out after playing with a group and winning 32 straight (members changed from time to time, but 2 of us stayed all 32). we lost cause 1 went afk

definitely the number one rule is GET THE PRESENTS! in fact, its often smart to leave opponents alive and at low health instead of killing, just in case you need to kill later..

and also, there are some bad classes and good ones. so far war and monk are my faves. ele, mes and necro are also good. and rt is ok. just dont play a para, derv or sin cause they are sucky.

My tips:
1- As the person above me mentioned, it is better to keep the enemy at low health, and only kill them when they are a danger.

2- Renew hidden rock whenever you can. Cast it at the start of the match, or whenever everyone is just waiting around for a present to pop up

3- The hex spell (the third one) is the greatest shutdown spell in the entire game (Not just in Dwayna VS Grenth). Touch an oppenent to cast it and they are rendered useless (as long as you keep attacking them). Use this to protect you carrier, or to kill they protection of enemy carriers. Do not use this on the enemy carrier himself, as it will not help you, since he is busy running, and not casting spells.

4- And lastly, armor and weapons have not effect here, so feel free to walk around naked, wielding the fake Crystaline sword given from the quest in Pre-Sear

Also, a more advanced trick is, when you're one-on-one and you're carrying the flag and someone is prepping up to do a Hidden Rock on you, you can drop the present and click on the ground to evade the rock, and you'll be able to get the present back faster than if you'd have been KD'ed.

ya that above trick is for pro's only! don't try it at home. i still can't really get the hang of it.

another trick i use sometimes, is let the opponents pick up the present first (just in case its a rotten egg!). you can always stone them if its a good one. i usually do this if its a 1v1 and we arrive at the same time.

For Grenth's side, don't forget that Yellow Snow makes you lose one condition. Including cripple or daze.

Useful professions:

Warrior = speed boost on allies
Ele = snare enemies
Mesmer = interrupt crucial skills especially Hidden Rock
Ritualist = extra damage dealer
Monk = regen and knockdown enemies who attack the target
Necro = AoE degen and self teleportation (tricky to use)

The rest are rubbish
