Well in my view this little tidbit confirms that they will be used in crafting Rainbow candy canes. I have already purchased 5000 shards in preparations. Rainbow CCs should be worth 1k+ especially since they affect the entire party. 1 cane will raise an average 8 man group's health by around 100hp. Or, (10% MB) 500hp if you use 5 rainbow canes. All that health coupled with recharged signets means that these candies will be used up fast and those with extras to sell will make a buttload.

I am staking my reputation on this bet. I am sure those that follow my lead will not be disappointed

Who knows, another possibility is that the rainbow CCs are only given as random gifts during the finale.

Dude, if you are right and you decide to trade them in for rainbow candy canes, you will have to click the mouse 5000 times. Can you say carpel tunnel syndrome, ouch!

Dude I so wish you are right cause then I would be very rich. But most likely it will take several shards to create one RCC. So, although I won't get Carpeltunnel, I also won't make as much moohlah.

Easy.

Odd numbered District = Grenth
Even numbered District = Dwayna

This is too easy NOT to use.

I agree with that, for LA and Kamadan, last year dwayna was so popular, people had to search for grenth rallies in german districts.

Read the first page I posted a screen of Gaile saying they affect the whole party.

Gaile mentioned in game that the morale bonus was party wide. Look around the various Wintersday threads and you will see a chat log screenshot.

It still would be nice to have a heads up as to what exactly the shards will be used for so people don't feel left out or screwed over with only one day left to stock up shards for something they really want.

ANET doesn't have the best record when it comes to informing the community about events, though they are doing FAR FAR better about it recently.

Don't you think it would take the excitment out of it all if they let ALL thier secrets out though? I mean, they gave many hints as well as a decent amount of direct information. The gamble involved has it's charm.

Besides, we always have that mantra, "it's only a game, it's only a game..."

... followed by a ragequit of course...

So if the Rainbow CCs should be worth 1k+, what about the Peppermint CC's.

I'm stocking up on them, should I sell them for around the 3k+ mark or will they still be only near 1k-ish

Don't ask how I get them, if you can't find out too bad.

Yeah, I have some peppermint candy canes left aswell and am looking to sell now at a higher price now that the frog said they are collector's items, lol. But I don't know what I will be selling them at, I'll just have to feel it out. In most cases, there will be a psychological block most people will have to paying too much for something most gamers have just learned to live without.

And the Rainbows are actually going to be really cool. Not only will they recharge your sigs and give you a morale boost, but the morale boost itself also recharges ALL of your skills, like killing a boss does. So say hello to SUPER SPIKE! LOL. If you have the energy it'll be better than an echo chain.

ok - i'm going to go way out on a limb here and get really flamed for it. but here is what i'm betting about hats and rainbow canes.

I'm betting that instead of getting hats by being present at the event, we will buy them with candy cane shards and that the hat merchant will be around for a while after the event.

Why? - because we were told to save shards to show our support for Grenth or Dwayna and were also told, "Besides, you never know what somebody might trade for these once the festivities come to a close." What better way to show support for Grenth or Dwayna than by purchasing and wearing their hat? - plus the addition of the festival hat npc would seem to show that ANet is not intereseted in keeping hats as restricted as they were in the past. After all, people only asked for storage for the hats they had and ANet gave them that plus a way to make hats for all their characters.

And then, I bet that what we get for being present will be the rainbow candy canes (a morale booste granted to you for supporting the winning god- while the loosers will get a holiday present with the chance of charcoal)

just a guess

Flame on! haha jk. But yeah the Hat NPCs are permanent, I think it was Gaile Gray who said that. If we have to trade in CC shards for a hat, I think that's kind of lame. I think we're going to build the greatest candy cane ever! Everyone will contribute to this and in the end we'll have a candy cane that's the size of a statue like the one in Kamadan!

Just so everyone knows:

You can still get peppermint candy canes. In Lion's Arch, take one of the random presents to Scrappy Jhim. He will (and seems to be the only kid to do so) give you a present in return (not just a shard). In this present you can get (from what I've seen) a cc shard, an eggnog, a spiked eggnog, a snowman summoner, and yes... a peppermint candy cane.

Enjoy!

I dunno where i herd this one but i think that on the final day you have to use ur CC shards to bet on who (Dwayna or Grenth) will win some contest or other. I'm probably just imagining it though. (Probably got it from Guildwiki)

This shall answer your guess.

In other words, hats or head gear or "chapeau" as The Frog calls them are not something that you buy, or trade for, or craft. They are gifts, freely given, during the finale of special events. You may find yourself the proud owner of such a gift during the Wintersday Finales, of which there will be 9. The first starts at 12:01 a.m. PST (8:01 GMT) on January 1st. The last and final finale (if that makes sense) begins at 12:01 a.m. PST (8:01 GMT) on January 2nd. Yes, you must be present. No you cannot trade with others to obtain the gift. Yes, the Festival Hat NPC can make a copy of a single hat to share with all the characters on that account.

Hope that information helps!
