N/Me

Hi, first post w00t, literally joined 5 minutes ago. (On that note I hope im posting this in the correct spot, i am still somewhat unfamiliar with where things go)

I am also relatively new to Guild Wars, only been playing 5 months. I am to the point now to where I want to try out my hand at farming, only the task seems to be arduous and non-productive. This is the build I worked on last night in the Elona Reach mission:

Physical Resistance
Channeling
Parasitic Bond
Enfeebling Blood
Spiteful Spirit
Insidious Parasite
Energy Tap
Shadow of Fear

Inspiration - 10
Curses - 12+3+1

The basic idea I had last night was to cast Physical Resistance and Channeling, spamm Parasitic Bond, and cast enfeebling blood when they grouped. This basically had them doing about 4 damage per hit and the P.B. took care of health. Channeling took care of energy so I could cast SS for damage. It seemed to work ok, but when spells started expiring it got really hairy really fast and I ended up getting massacred. I could use some constructive criticism on a better way to manage the spell upkeep or overall criticism on the build itself.

Thanks!

Most people will tell you to change to monk secondary, and use enough superior runes to get to 105 hp. Then you put on a -50hp focus, protective spirit, and tada - you can tank. Since you're monk secondary, you can take Essence Bond and/or Balthazar's Spirit to gain energy.
You can try and do what you have already listed here, but the problem is that it's so precariously balanced, as you said. That's why people have come up with more brute force ways to farm, like above.

The 55 build was my next option I was trying to salvage something from the Mesmer build, but it seems as tho the 55 will be my best bet. Although I don't know how effective it would be with the new AoE update. I was also considering which was more effective, SS or Feast of Corruption, and how to implement FoC into a build without having to use Arcane Echo, since it costs so much.

Any ideas?

Post aggro update, 55 builds still work perfectly, the aspect of them that got nerfed is the damage dealing spells such as SS and SOJ. Since the update, when you are fighting more than three enemies at any one time, some of them will run to the edge of your aggro radius for a while. 55 farming still works, it will just take a bit longer due the this update. As for farming with a 55 necromancer, try this build;
Soul Reaping - 3 + 3
Curses - 12 + 1 + 3
Healing Prayers - 9
Protection Prayers - 9

Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Shield of Absorption or Guardian
Spiteful Spirit or Spoil Victor
Reckless Haste or Shadow of Fear
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending

Shield of Absorption works well when you are facing such a large number of enemies that Breeze's healing is inadequate, and is probably a better choice than guardian.
Spiteful Spirit is the best of the two damage dealing hexes for large mobs, but Spoil Victor is far better than it for farming a single enemy such as a boss.
Reckless Haste is better than Shadow of Fear for most farming environments, but most people agree Shadow is necesarry for underworld farming.
Hope that helps.

If you want to stay N/me it will be tough depending on what you're doing. Their are many easy N/me boss solos usually consisting of going after a lone boss. Stuff like E-denial SS I think...it's been awhile.
But if you want to go for mass farming it'll be hard and your attributes will be split and even more your build will more than likely have less than 50% success. Basically you would center around these
Physical Resist.
AotL
Weakness
some life stealing
Thats splitting attributes 4 ways though so you're definate best bet would be in 55.
