I was just posting in a different thread and an idea set off in my head.
We really should get all of the facts together that we know about chapter 4 already and the areas already mentioned.

Never know, we might be able to guess which direction they are taking it in. No theories here though, if we just have one thread to refer to thats based only on fact, it might make things easier for us. So, what do we already know?

*Chapter 4 will be based in the North of Tyria.

So what do we already know about the North of Tyria from the last 3 chapters? Who lives there, what races, what do they do? etc

North of Tyria is.......nothing. It's been a while since i've read up on Tyrian lore, so forgive me if this is inaccurate, but I recall that the northern wall was built to protect the kingdom of ascalon from the monsters and creatures roaming the wasteland outside. Dragon's Gullet and Flame Corridor give some insight on this wasteland and on the charr.

Beetletun's lore has been speculated quite a bit here already but I'll post it here as well then:

"Historians speculate that in time out of mind, these now-ruined watchtowers guarded Kryta from some unknown northern threat. Now the crumbled towers stand like ancient stone soldiers still awaiting the arrival of that mysterious enemy from across the great saltwater lake called Giant's Basin."

------------
There's much potential for chapter 4 in there, if C4 really is situated north of tyria then I couldn't see a better place than across that huge lake.

I don't think the Dragon Gullet and the Flame Corridor are the places where the Charr lived. They got through there, but don't think such an entire race could live there alone. I very much think we will go to Orr, or at least will get to know of it some more. Also, the Beetletun description drives me over the Great Basin too to battle these giants. But there's so much more to explore/think of. I mean, according to the Vizier in the cutscene at the end of Sanctum Cay the Shining Blade got slaughtered by the White Mantle. Maybe you help the Shining Blade build a new base west of the Maguuma Jungle and encounter some trespassing or something, or White Mantle trying to prevent this from happening. Also, the corsairs are a pretty big subject in the manual. Maybe we'll get on a raid to destroy them, or they have something that can bring humanity (tengunanity, centaurity and dwarfany) in great danger when placed in the wrong hands (the cliché). If they do decide to go north of Tyria, please don't do it like all the other games did with Vikings and stuff. North of Tyria doesn't need to be snowy or arctic at all in my opinion.
To conclude, I think it will most likely be situated on the other side of the Giant Basin. But then again, there are so many other places you can go. I sure hope they start a whole new story after Chapter 4, like a Guild Wars II, because this story is close to an end.

The Charr had little to do with Vizier Khilbron (the undead lich). The Charr followed the Titans, because they worshipped them. Ascalon and Orr became destroyed by them because the Titans did. To me, the Titans were something Abbadon summoned and seeing how the total destruction didn't work, Abbadon send the Vizier to get the chosen, open the door of Komali with them and unleash more Titans.

HAD LITTLE TO DO WITH THEM aww man

it states that the lich forced the charr out of the north lands plus lich started the whole proph. because he wanted to weaken a army so he uses something to distract ascalon as he slips behind and turns his back but then we came in so..... the titans where unleashed from ring of fire by lich. i think thats what happin, but i know that the lich moving the charr is stated.

The Charr broke through this line of defense, causing the Searing, but have been unable to gain a lasting foothold south of the Wall despite further penetrations.

The Charr worship the Titans, to which they build impressive flaming monuments and temples. These monuments give the Charr increased power. When traveling, the Charr will erect burning effigies in their camps for their gods. These effigies can be used to tell if the Charr are still present or have left.

Like Humans, the Charr have a complex culture, specializing into all six core professions.

The Charr Invasion

At around the time of 1070 AE, when the three Kingdoms were busy fighting each other in the Guild Wars, none of them took the Charr seriously enough. At that time they were still restricted by the Great Northern Wall. But the Charr had gathered all their forces and found a way to summon a great devastating magic from the skies. How they organized themselves so well and how they mastered such arcane powers, remains a mystery, though the Titans may have helped them for their own purposes. They set out to conquer all humans:

* During the Searing, with their powerful magics, they rained fire on the lands of Ascalon past the Great Northern Wall and effectively brought Ascalon to its knees. The beautiful land of green hills and lush foliage was completely ravaged and turned into a scorched and dry land, with little to no plants or water. Most of the major cities and settlements were destroyed and turned into ruins.

* After Ascalon fell, their armies rushed towards the Kingdom of Orr. The Orrians believed their armies would hold back the Charr, but quickly faced crushing defeat and the Charr were marching on the capital, Arah. In a moment of desperation (or malicious calculation) the personal advisor of the King of Orr, Vizier Khilbron, invoked powerful forbidden magic to defeat the invading Charr forces. The result was a powerful explosion that wiped out those Charr and most of the peninsula of Orr. This event is referred to as The Cataclysm.

* The Kingdom of Kryta at first faltered before the Charr hordes and the ruling family fled. Then a man by the name of Saul D'Alessio led the fight against the Charr, and aided by gods he called the Unseen Ones he was able to turn the tide. The followers of Saul formed the White Mantle which has ruled and protected Kryta ever since.
The Vizier even tried to stop the Charr :O

hmmmm is it possible to see orr from a distance in pre? and the only way orr could be barried so quickly in 2 years is dessert and that blast couldent have destroyed it because theres bleached bones in the arid sea or tyria that talk about fighting giant kraken like things so orr probably isent possible to see in pre eh? since it was far in the desert....atleast with the facts they left us......
Blaze theres two diff stories to the charr and i guess mine is rong so.....you win parts of this fact battle.

I was thinking along the lines of some unkowns and what we have. So far points of curiosity and possible future chapters are:

Dredge: seem to have some underground networking going on and whatnot.
Dwarves: Maybe not, maybe yes.
Centaurs: The elonian centaurs and tyrian centaurs are somewhat mysterious
Tengu: Doubtful
Humans: Definitely
Charr: Probably.

Orr: Discussed a bit in a few quests in NF. Don't know if they'll expand much more on this really, it's a sunken city.
Dzalana: No clue, just that in the NF Quick Reference it has a map with Dzalana in the NW. Don't know if that's anything or it's useless with Citadel of Dagon mission.
City in Cantha: along the west coast there's buildings and such. Much is untouched in cantha really, could expand.
Northern Tyria: Eventually yeah, probably.
Islands west of elona: Nah prob not.
Mursaat and Seer: Where the hell did those guys come from? Lets go into outer space and kick their butts in their homeland. Although I'm not too sure they were good or bad either of them honestly. We sneaked with the vizier past the mursaat then he turned around and unleashed his titans which was a bad thing and you don't fight any mursaat after that.

What about those damn bloodstones?

Gaile said that there are clues to Chapter 4 in the Nightfall manual. We searched, and we found something:
- 221 AE Cantha begins trading with Tyria, Elona and the northern areas.

What we can say about the north:
- There is a second pass through the Shiverpeaks much further north, deep in Charr territory.
- Long ago, giant watchtowers were built in Watchtower Coast to defend against some unknown invaders from across the sea, who apparently never came.
- The Charr did/do not live in the area above Ascalon that is visible on the map. They live further north, perhaps in some kind of fiery, volcanic region? They came down to the east of the Shiverpeaks to attack Ascalon. They did not attack the dwarves in the lower Shiverpeaks, but headed across their northern pass instead to attack Kryta. Perhaps they marched down the strip of land above Nebo Terrace that separates the two giant lakes?
- The 'dense forest' that Saul D'Alessio walked through on his way to the Mursaat city may lie northwest of Divinity Coast, stretching along the west coast of the Giant's Basin. Another route he may have taken is the stretch of land between the two lakes that I just mentioned. Both of these routes would lead to a Mursaat homeland north of Tyria.
- Perhaps there are more bloodstones in this northern region?
- If this region has a city that can be reached by boat travel from LA/Kaineng/Temple/Kamadan, it will probably be in the west, seeing as the Charr occupy the east. Unless the Charr in this region are actually friendly

Nah, Shiverpeaks were just too cold. And Kai Nui, you might be on to something with the dredges, I mean, we know where they come from, but it could be an huge civilisation with it's own story and trouble.

Maybe we'll finally get to see some of the "great giants".

Then again, I heard a rumor that chapter 4 was going to be South American themed, in which case:

"Mursaat can be found in the Southern Shiverpeaks and the Ring of Fire Islands, and in lore it is said that the Unseen Ones have a city deep inside the Maguuma Jungle." (Taken from Guildwiki)

Nightfall tied up a lot of loose ends regarding Prophecies and Factions, but nothing to do with the Mursaat.

Mind you the South American theme is just a rumor; I can't find anything in the NF handbook about it.

I think we may be forgetting about the southern edge of Cantha. Has anyone else noticed that while Tyria and Elona seem to be completely visible, Cantha's landmass just goes off the map. Maybe we'll be doing something in that area? It would be possible, considering the Factions team will be making Ch.4. However, I think I may be seeing a bad pattern here. Prophecies and Nightfall (Team 1) were seen as great successes, but Factions(Team 2, also the team to make Ch.4) is seen by most to be absolute crap, so I hope Team 2 doesn't stick to the current trend.

Found another clue in the nightfall manual.

1060 DR | 1370 CC | 860 AE |: Nolani is founded

Of course, this might refer to Nolani Academy, but it isn't mentioned in the prophecies manual. So why would they add it in the nightfall manual?

My best guess is that Nolani is either a province or the name of the continent in chapter 4.

In one theory about chapter 4, if it takes place north of Tyria, then most likely all the land mass would be frozen (if you are picturing a globe). And if chapter 4 is based on Norse mythology, then there should be new race of humans (vikings, valkyries, and some eskimos for kicks?). And about the Giants that were mentioned, there wasn't much information about them. Reading Beacon's Perch mentions this "Named the Legendary Dwarven warrior who single handedly held off the great giant invasion of 534 A.E." The problem with Giants is that they could be either Titans or the various Giants in Tyria.

If the new place is called Nolani, then it would be based on magic users? It is explained that Nolani academy was "...most prestigious schools of magic on the entire continent." This could explain if somehow The Seers and The Mursaat are part of this. Mursaats and Seers are mainly magic users, excluding Jade Armors.

Another theory of chapter 4 could be the mysterious sea, which is mentioned in the Nightfall manual "Between the Northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled by sudden storms and cyclones, hidden reefs, and dangerous sea creatures. These waters were once navigated by Luxon raiders from Cantha, and to this day, brigands from many cultures search for secret coves hidden by these deadly waters." Could chapter 4 be a whole bunch of island hopping and ship sailing perhaps? One thing about Cantha doing trading with the Northern area might not be North of Tyria. It could be another continent above Cantha instead. Is Cantha directly south of Tyria? Or is there another continent west of Tyria instead? Maybe from there we could find out who the Mursaat and Seer are.

Nolani Academy is named after the greatest mesmer of all time: Nolani Blaze.
Like, dûh!

Edit: good point though, but IIRC, it was also in mentioned in the timeline of Prophecies. I think it's just because Elona is a country/province/state of Tyria. But would be nice to find the origin of this.
Another edit: Nolani is just the name of the town: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Nolani_...%28Location%29

The mursaat city is in the south of Magumma near to the river passage that takes u to Riverside province.

The ferryman Old Joness speaks of a shadow hanging over the Ullen River that hides what lies beyond its shores. He says it is cast by something "unseen".

For those of you who are talking about Orr... Although I would like to explore the debris of orr, it is highly unlikely as it's located on the southern region of Tyria. Take a look over by the crystal desert, to the west of it is a peninsula that looks like it was shattered. That is orr.

The lich wasn't always evil, he was originally the actual vizier that you saw helping the Shining blade in human form. He is the one who went into the catacombs of orr and opened the scroll that brought about the doom of orr, and the invading charr in that region.

The charr invaded ascalon and swept through, and then split up. Some went west towards Kryta, where they were beaten, and some went south through the mountains between ascalon and the crystal desert, and made their way west to orr where the Vizier read the scroll, destroying orr and the charr with them. The surviving charr just continued to bombarde ascalon because they couldn't beat kryta and orr was gone.

Yeah, to my knowledge the Charr came through the wall by destroying it and Ascalon with it. After that, they went to Kryta (probably chasing the fleeing Ascalonians) and head south to Orr. They got pwned by the White Mantle in Kryta and the vizier blowed everything up, including the Charr.

well as much as I'd like to see a mesoamerican inspired chapter 4, most clues are pointing to the north, the only thing pointing west is the mursaat city. Even so I think we'll be knowing more about the mursaat in chapter 4 despite it being in the north, I mean, think of them, their stronghold is somewhere deep into the magumma (wich we dont know how big it is) and even so they had the resources to build a fortress in the ring of fire, stop the char invasion, take control of Kryta, and assault the shiverpeaks. sure, with all the tyhings that happened in prophecies it seems they had to retreat back to the jungle. But if Abbadon is no more, what is the new agenda of the mursaat? I hope we get to know more about them.

The titans susposally wiped them out (although im sure theres probally some survivors), that was part of the flameseeker profecies, that is why the Mursaat tried so hard to stop it ever taking place. If u do Defend Droknors Forge u will see Scattered Mursaat corpses where the titans have ahhnilated them.

Im not saying there probally arnt, but we dont know that since there is no mention of them quest wise after that. Eg. No Defend the Mursaat City Quest. And since the Titans seemed pretty happy running around un contested near Denravi which is near to the mursaat city we can only presume either the mursaat hid or they got totally wiped out

even so, i dont think the mursaat have anything to do with the 4th chapter. we already know that its going to take place north of the known tyria. the only leads we have are the dwarven guy fending off a bunch of giants that attacked from the north and the watchtowers that were built along giants basin to help defend against an attack from the north. most likey from the same source. the area that these clues point to would likely be temperate, wooded, and mountainous due to the map.

there were also remains of giants found in the crystal desert, though these giants may have all died off due to the climate, margonites, or forgotten. which is why they are only remains.

I think that chapter 4 is many year after 1,2 and 3. I'ts located North of Tyria so we get to see more of the shiverpeaks, the charr homeland, maybe more magunna jungle. O and the final boss is Gwen at adult age. She would be ether a warrior or a mesmer (she say she would like to be a warrior but the mesmer outfit is nicer in pre-sear)

Is it me or is Kryta totally paranoid, They have watch towers in the north to guard from unknown Northern Threat, they Have Watch Towers to the south to guard from the unknown Southern Threat. They Have Large Fortresses all over the place. For a Peaceful nation they seem to do alot of Waring (Excluding the White Mantles Waring ofc)
