Increase Ignore Limit

Personally I would turn off local chat. Most of the people you will have to deal with are also candidates for the ignore list. Potential sellers, buyers, even if you're trying to look for a group, adding more people to your ignore list increases the chances of that happening.

Not going to happen, all account information is stored online. If this information were to be stored offline (which would in turn only activate if you were on that particular computer), then that could give hackers a better oppourtunity to get into your account.

And still, in my PvE time I think I had 1 person on my ignore, but that's because he kept begging for me to help him. There must be something you do differently than other people that provokes them to piss you off...

Nope. I just seem to come accross all the prats in the game.

But if I choose to block someone, I dont want to unblock them later on to make room for someone else. My idea of blocking a person is perminant.

It should be a case of ignoring them and not having to think about it again.

I just delete people from my ignore list after a week or so. never hear of em again. and you don't have to think about them again, since you'll be forgetting them, too.

What is the point in ignoring people spamming for selling or buying when you can just turn the chat off? Thats just a stupid thing to do.

If you ignore someone for PM'ing offensive messages, you can just unblock them after 3 days and they and you will forget all about it.

I've never had a full ignore list, so I dont see the point in increasing the limit.

My god at most I have to ignore 1 person during the week. Just keep your mouth shut in towns and don't act like an immature brat and maybe you won't have ppl pming you... That or you just spend a little too much time in towns for your own good.

This idea is stupid. Plus if they increase the Ignore list it would just try to show how bad the game community is and that's not good...

Its amazing how its always the fault of the individual when they get harrassed or abused or attacked.

It reminds me of when people suggested it was my fault that a gang jumped on me and my ex-g/f outside our local pub months ago. They suggested I had provoked them into attacking us and I must have said something.

Provoked a gang of 6 people, to attacked myself and my drunk ex-g/f?

God forbid they might have just been malicious and evil and felt like attacking two people who had no chance of defending themselves.

That really angers me when people suggest that its your fault if you get attacked or you take abuse from someone.

And it angers me even more when people suggest you just hang-your head and ignore it.

Making a comment such as, "dont act like an immature brat" is just crass and ignorant and it suggest I provoke these issues Ive had in the game.

I HAVE NEVER ONCE SPOKEN TO ANYONE IMPOLITELY INSIDE THE GAME.

I msged someone in elona who was advertising for a certain weapon and all I said was that I wouldnt buy that weapon. I got "noob" spammed back to me in a wisp for about 10 minutes.

Explain to me how that is ME acting immature or me provoking them?

Whether people realise this or not, the point of cities and towns is to communicate with others. We CANT always just turn off the chat window and we SHOULDNT have to.

Thats like suggesting we NEVER talk to anyone ever in the game, incase we get abuse from them. Its an unreasonable suggestion. We need to communicate and we need to use the chat window.

Ive tried to have countless conversations in towns amoungst a large number of people and its been impossible due to spamming!

Does that mean I should NEVER have conversations in towns and cities using the chat window? Hardly.

If we had an infinite or much large ignore limit, then we could ignore all these people.

Turning off the chat window is not an option, because people need to use it. We shouldnt have to resort to not talking to others to avoid spamming. Thats no better then allowing the spammers and abusers to get away with spamming and ruining the communication for everyone else.

And again, I DONY SAY IMMATURE THINGS TO PEOPLE. I generally try to have nice mature conversations or I offer advice. I shouldnt have to be subjected to abuse or harrassmet as a result of it.

Its Anets job to provide a way to protect us from such things and increasing the ignore limit will do that.

And I shouldnt have to remove someone, who Ive felt is abusive, from my ignore list at a later date because Ive ran out.

They are on the list for a reason and it reasures me to know their on there. Am I not allowed to feel secure in the game?

That's silly. After you ignore someone for 10 minutes you can easily unignore them. I seldom meet the same people again, and honestly, people you blocked a month ago aren't going to remember you and still be trying to harass you now. Quit being a turd and take people off your ignore list once they've gone stale. Quit whining for anet to make you have a longer ignore list for you to complain about when that fills since infinite is impossible. Besides, you can turn off public and trade chat. If you are really such a hateful person that you believe that so many people (apparently much more than 15 you've managed to find, which is beyond me) then write their names on paper or reconsider yourself. You seem like more of a jerk than anything, just ready to flame someone.

Honestly, I'm sure everyone here plays within the Guild Wars world, and I don't think anyone is buying one piece of crap that's coming out of your mouth, freekedoutfish. We've all played in the game and know there are idiots out there, but all the idiots aren't attracting to one person so quickly that they can fill up a 15 man ignore list and still be afraid that those guys on there will still try to contact and annoy them. Get real, what do you take us all for, idiots? Honestly, you're the person responsible for having such a huge ignore list, anyone who's played guild wars can see that pretty clearly.

As I said to the other poster Im not going to accept that and it really angers me when people suggest you get attacked ONLY if you provoke them.

People do actually attack others for no reason. Its not unreasonable to ask for an improved system to protect us from such people.

I wouldn't give a duck about what other people buy or don't. And if (s)he spammed something like that to me, I would just laugh, put the person on the ignore list, get him/her off of it the next day. Again, I wouldn't give a duck. I'd just laugh.

Well, it's that abusive and immature and rude children's parents job to watch what they are playing/doing and teach some respect to their children.

It's not like anyone is gonna come down and spam Searing Flames. Why do you get upset about these little kids? They are just pathetic. When I see someone being rude or cursing ingame, I just laugh my ass off. I don't know about you, but I would never feel cautious or be afraid about something that some 10 year old says.

I didn't want to react on the fight thing and all, because I've been through something like that myself three times. But I'd just be happy to know for myself what I did or didn't do. Who cares what those people think, it happened to you, they weren't there, they just talk crap.

I just really dont see why everyone is against this idea of increasing the ignore limit. Its not going to do any harm. It can only help if anything.

But yes you can just remove someone the next day. But we should have a choice to keep them on or remove them.

At the current limit, we dont really have that choice because in a 2 year span it can become full.

Whether or not the people here have experienced less abuse then me, has no baring on this. Because there are bound to be 10000s of other players who do take regular abuse or have done over a short or long amount of time.

What harm would it honestly do to increase the limit or make it infinate?

None. At all!!!

Surely its a good thing to very simply increase it to 30 or 50 or even 100 at the least.

Also, if someone is trying to sell an item, they dont want people pm'ing them saying 'I dont want to buy that item'. OMG like WHY would anyone even bother to PM a person thats selling something and say I dont want to buy that? If someone did that to me i'd be pissed off as well and would tell them to not bother pm'ing BS.

And yes it was your fault that person called you a noob, you provoked it 100%. When people spam you have you ever thought of changing your status to offline for a minute or 2 instead of using the ignore list? Its much quicker and just as effective.

It is not good to go and ignore every spammer/offender in the game, its better to take a screen cap and report it.

I DIDNT wisp the person saying I didnt want to buy it. I was going to offer some advice. If they didnt want to listen to that, or talk to me, they only had to say so. There was absolutely no need to spam me with abuse.

If I see someone spamming WTS in all chat for whatever item or money, I never PM them to say you shouldnt be selling it in all chat for that much money or anything, it is annoying, and pointless.

Go find something else to do in the game other then complaining about what other people are trying to sell. Better yet, TAKE SCREENSHOTS OF ABUSIVE COMMENTS AND REPORT THEM INSTEAD OF IGNORING.

Oh btw... My ignore list is empty and no one spams me or anything. So yes it is purely your own fault if people are doing that.

I hate dealing with them by just placing my status on "Do Not Disturb" or "Offline" which conflicts my chats with friends or when I'm buy/selling items.

If ive had a go at anyone in this thread, its the ones who has very blatenly suggested I have provoked any abuse ive recieved. Something I find very offensive for personal reasons.

But obviously going by the majority in this thread, most here feel its obviously too much of a big thing to do.

Thats fine. I respect peoples opinions, aslong as their not going to attack me and suggest I start any abuse or attacks that I recieve.

I still say its not a huge thing to add or ask for. So im leaving this now and my opinion has not been changed and Id say my point has been proven as to why we need an increase.

Especially by those who has expressly said they dont think anything wrong with someone spamming you with abuse for 10 minutes after just saying one thing to them.

This suggests to me that alot of people who have posted her would do just that to someone and spam them with unprovoked abuse.

No one wants to hear your personal comments on their items or what there selling. If advice isnt asked for, dont bother giving it.

And this is only explaining one person that was spaming you. What about all the others? How did they get your character name to spam you in the first place? You must be doing or saying something that I dont ever do or say because I dont have this problem.

I have not encountered you before, but currently it seems to me like you are the very type of person most people wish to ignore, and the reason the ignore list should be at least slightly larger. When someone respectfully states in thier first post that they did not do anything to deserve bieng flamed, and stated the situation, it is not your job to automatically assume they are at fault. It is your job to show your viewpoint, and how it is logical, and why it may be more efficient than the other man's.
Instead of bieng mannerly and intelligently countering freekedout's statements, you purposely baited him and insulted nearly every word he had said and every view he expressed. I would hope that you were having a bad day, or perhaps were tired and misunderstood his posts. However, i doubt either one, since you spoke coherently and posted twice in the same manner.

Please refrain from doing anything like that again, and respect your fellow gamers. Others in this thread have simply skipped a portion of freeked's posts, but you either didnt even read a line or you didnt care, and niether is excusable. Especially since evidence points to the latter. Also, do not assume that anyone that has problems you dont is inferior, or must be at fault for them. Im sure you wouldn't appreciate it if you were blamed for someone robbing your house with it completely locked down.
