Increase Ignore Limit

press "P", write what you want/will do, close local, that's it
you're just labeling people that could even be doing that for one day, and the next they'll keep their journey/travel/whatever
personally, i hate spammers and thats why i get away from dist 1 and 2 of every big outpost, it's not worth my time to look for their name and add them to my ignore list

People do abuse and attack others without provication. If your unaware of that, then you need to get away from your computers and experience how bad the world can be. And its not always a case of just ignoring abuse. Young children play this game and some individuals are extremely vulnerable to abuse. They can take it personally and to heart. I have played with and known players ingame who are very emotionally unstable and can easily get upset at very little things. Its these people we need to protect. Its these people who need this more then anyone. |
2) Children are the cause of most of the spamming lol. Also the game box states 12+. The last time I checked, 12 year olds are very capable of withstanding the word 'noob', heck the majority of them swear and dish out plently of abuse at school and in real life, and in this game.
3) If your a person that is emotionally unstable, seek psychaitric help. It could be something treatable like bipolar disorder. simply dont talk to or whisper people ingame that you dont know because that is probably what causes them to spam nonscense to you.

Nice to see I was so soundly ignored. Bhavv, just let it alone, and leave this thread be. You are not bieng constructive.
*response to below*
I did read what he said, and what you said. Regardless, what you said was offensive, and therefore his response is justified, especially as prat isnt an insult. Its similar to calling a petulant child spoiled. Moronic is not excusable, except for the fact that you had already insulted him. You were the instigator. I side with the op, in that what he said at the beginning of the thread was violated by you, therefore you are at fault.

Instead of bieng mannerly and intelligently countering freekedout's statements, you purposely baited him and insulted nearly every word he had said and every view he expressed. I would hope that you were having a bad day, or perhaps were tired and misunderstood his posts. However, i doubt either one, since you spoke coherently and posted twice in the same manner. Please refrain from doing anything like that again, and respect your fellow gamers. Others in this thread have simply skipped a portion of freeked's posts, but you either didnt even read a line or you didnt care, and niether is excusable. Especially since evidence points to the latter. Also, do not assume that anyone that has problems you dont is inferior, or must be at fault for them. Im sure you wouldn't appreciate it if you were blamed for someone robbing your house with it completely locked down. |
Thank you for not reading everything properly and for not being able to understand my views on this.

The real question you guys are ignoring is: why not increase the ignore limit? Would it really be that hard? no. Would it be worth it? to some. So why not?

"And yes it was your fault that person called you a noob, you provoked it 100%."
Something which, as explained, I find extremely offensive. To suggest that someone provokes an attack and deserves abuse is absolutely pathetic and childish.
Your reasoning for saying I deserved that abuse was because I wispered someone who was wanting to buy something.
Thats why I called you pathetic and moronic.
If I have EVER provoked an argument or insulted someone, then I would admit that. I have no issues about admitting when I have made a mistake or caused an issue.
But I have never done that in GWs. And I wouldnt.
You say I have a short temper and I snap at people when I make threads. Your right I do. Because im a very defensive person. But Im also a very open minded person who likes a decent debate and to listen to others ideas.
But only when people are polite to one another. I refuse to listen to someones opinion is their rude and trying to provoke an argument.
I only ever snap at people and loose my temper, when individuals like yourself feel the need to flame me or others.
Something which you did by making a crass comment, suggesting I would ever provoke an attack from someone.
Something which I consider very offensive. And yes thats for personal reasons and from personal experience.
But I have also apologised earlier in this thread for bringing that whole pub/fight thing up, because I realised it was uncalled for and I shouldnt have.
Do not get up yourself either and try to act all innocent, when you throw comments such as that around.
If you or others in this website dont like it when I get defensive and loose my temper, then perhaps yourself and others should learn how to communicate better and not flame people.
Im completely leaving this now.
Im sick of the fact that 90% of threads I start end up as flames. Its depressing and Im fed up with it. It leaves alot to be desired and its shows what most people are like in the GWs world.

I can see if all you do is pve...who are you going to ignore, the monsters? Yeah maybe ocasonally the people in your pug, but isnt that what heroes are for?
Go hit Ha or even arenas b/c i end up filling up that list in about 4 arena matches or a couple of Ha's. Also agree with another post, whats the big argument against it i mean would it require that much work to just increase the list by like 10 or 20 people? They put together huge events, doubt it would take much to increase a list.

And I still believe that you CLEARLY provoked being called a noob lol.
And you find my opinion so offensive because?
READ THE FOLLOWING PLEASE VERY CAREFULLY:
If you are trying to sell an item in the game, it is very annoying for someone to whisper you and say 'I DONT WANT TO BUY THAT ITEM, ITS NOT WORTH IT etc'. Its these people that need to be ignored.
For whatever reason, you had no need to PM that person or give him/her your comments on their item if you werent interested in them. Its very childish, very uncalled for, and very annoying to do, and it is your fault 210% that the person whispered you back and said noob.
And this is probably why for a PVE player, you have so many people you need to ignore.

Three things: one, freekyfish or w/e and bhavv, settle in PMs, stop spamming the thread. Two: achilles ankle is correct, PvP and you'll meet between 1-10 idiots a day, almost guaranteed, and some of these WILL stalk you (or maybe you wanna list them for further use so they don't get in your groups, some use the ignore list for that). Three: sometimes it fills up because maybe there are people that you don't want to know that you still exist.

I've noticed that many many MANY of the players in GW are bratty little kids whose favorite activities consist of:
Part of the social problems that exist in GW are due to the fact that there are no GM's banning people in-game. Another part is that you can't permanently ignore every jackass who deserves it. Sure, you can report people to get them temporarily banned, but how long would it take to report everyone who does all of the things listed above? That makes most people only report the worst offenses, meaning most bad players still run amok. To some extent, there is no law and order in this game. If people were banned more easily or shut out by all of the other players when they can't be civil, it would be a big help. Obviously we're never getting in-game GM's and they're never going to make it easier to report someone, meaning no increased banning for bad players, so making a longer (or better, unlimited) ignore list to allow us to ignore everyone who is a pest would be a great consolation prize.
In summary:
/SIGNED X 1000
PS: I think I can count one hand how often I've talked to other players in town, and I've never had a fight with another player, this is just about how nice it would be to get rid of or ignore every troll in the game.
EDIT: Since I keep seeing this brought up by others, freekedoutfish was saying that someone was buying an item and he pm'ed them to let them know it probably wasn't a good idea to buy that item because xyz item would be better. Example: If I sit in town saying "WTB Sundering Sword 50k" and someone pm's me to tell me a Zealous Sword would be better because sundering is like 1% extra armor penetration on average, that's helpful, not rude.
- Humping random people
- Starting fights with strangers for no reason (u r ugly rangers suck, etc)
- Begging for free stuff
- Screaming at team members over every little thing
- Spamming and spamming and spamming every sentence they say, especially when having tantrums
- Scammers
- Trade Spammers
- Perverts doing cyber porn in Local and Trade channels
So when those are the people whose text is clogging all of the chat channels, why would anyone want to bother seeing any of it? Most people turn the chat channels off because of all of these things. It ruins most opportunities for having a conversation with other players in towns. If we had an unlimited ignore list, once you know someone is a douchebag, you never ever have to put up with them again for anything they could ever do to be annoying. How long would a trade spammer's business be profitable when everyone in the district has them on Ignore? Forever? Eventually that would stack up over time as they annoy more and more people with their spam everywhere, and they would need a new account to get the attention they need to sell their items. How long would a screaming little brat find amusement from bothering everyone if they get put on everyone's ignore list everywhere they go? Seriously.

I'm sorry I keep bringing this up, but really want to try and highlight my point without being flamed by everyone for once.
BAD ADVICE helps no one and leads to name calling, usually noob. I hate bad advice and hate anyone that gives me any.
This advice is coming from someone that prefers using a fire off hand with -1 energy and thinks ragos staff and +20% enchants is rubbish compared to it. We do not know what 'advice' was given in the conversation as we have no screenshot, but from what I've read so far from freakedoutfish, I believe the following is a good example of what probably happened:
A) WTS Ragos Flame Staff for 70k
B) I think that staff is rubbish in my opinion, tarloks flaggon with +15 energy -1 energy regen is better, so you should sell it for less like 20k.
Then A spams B calling him a noob for what seems to me a very obvious reason. So far, freakedoutfish hasnt given me any other valid reasons for increasing the ignore list other then this one, and people spamming WTS in all chat.
Lets take my following screenshots of what I call abuse and reported:
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4/report1jt1.jpg
http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/8678/report2zj6.jpg
(All that because I had lag and decided to leave rather then put up with his comments)
In this case I changed my status to offline for a minute, took the screenshots and reported them. I didnt need to use my ignore list at all to resolve the matter.
So I really do not see a point in increasing the limit on the ignore list so they can add everyone that spams WTS, or asks for free things. It actually encourages people to ignore rather then report real abuse which does not help anyone in the long run.

If you want to extend your list just for people that use the N word and spam WTB in all chat, then I really dont see how you can bear to play this game. And again, insults that are much more offensive need to get reported not ignored.

Most of the people I ignore are scammers of various sorts. Runners that quit, 55ers that keep hijack ToA or just keep the 500g, outright trade scammers, etc.
These people i want to keep on my ignore list forever. I don't want to remember the names (which doesn't work anyway cos they'll swap chars).
For the abuser, maybe a 2 day ignore would be enough, but not the others.

Great idea, I fill up my ignore list too easily, every few months or so I have to clear it out to add new names, and I have a feeling I've entered the same names more than once. Whose fault it is I'm not one to say. Yes, I get ticked off sometimes and in doing so tick off others. No, that is not the only reason people spam "n00b" and "i hate u" whispers to me.
