Want a way to choose your Wintersday Hat ?

Easy.

Odd numbered District = Grenth
Even numbered District = Dwayna

This system is too easy NOT to use.

EDIT: The going theory last year was that the hat given out was determined by which God had the most players gathered around their position....sorry for the confusion.

i think what he is saying is that the 2 hats that will be given away(?), the odd numbered districts (1,3,5,7...) well get the hat of grenth. the even numbered districts (2,4,6,8,......) will get the hat of dwayna

He's saying if it was like last year, the people in even-numbered districts will try to win the mini-game, which will earn Dwayna hats. The people in odd-numbered districts will intentionally lose, which will earn Grenth hats. So basically, you choose even or odd based on which hat you want.

Yeah, last year there were two sections for hat collection, like the one the mad king has. Whichever has more people in it gets the hat of the related gods, so theres a chance of getting no hat, you need to go with the mass support on the district.

There were actually very few districts in LA last year supporting Grenth compared to those with a natural majority of goody-Dwayna-lovers. The ones that did have a majority for Grenth only managed to do so due to spam passing around in All-chat, telling people to go to that district if they wanted Grenth's hat.

I really doubt that the community could be so easily organised as you seem to be suggesting.

Last year you got a yule cap if you were close to Dwayna's avatar and you got horns of grenth if you stood by Grenth's avatar. It had nothing to do with how many players were standing by the respective god. It was just a rumor that more people closer to a specific god earned that whole district a certain hat. This is true because if you were too far from one avatar or the other you would get no hat but if you were near one of the avatars you would get their respective hats.

In short; Stand near Dwayna for a Yule Cap. Stand near Grenth for Horns of Grenth. The district doesn't matter end of story.

Bah, it's more fun to be standing with 100+ people standing next to you screaming for a God-cum-Rockstar to arrive.

Give yourself bonus points for figuring out what that means...

So sorry, Dauntless, it was different than that. The way it worked was that only one god could win. The winning god, determined by [something, supposedly the number of people gathered at an avatar], was the only one to distribute a hat in that district.

Yeah this was very true for the euro districts. I remember hearing about Reindeer horns and was trying to find a district that was supporting grenth. It was only after a player spammed that districts 51,52 and 53 were supporting grenth. Even if the community could organise such a thing there will always be players who do the complete opposite.

You sure? It would make sense to make sure no one goes home empty handed...

I had a character there each time a hat was given out. When I stood by Grenth I got horns, when I stood by Dwayna I got a yule cap. When I was halfway across LA I got nothing. District made no difference. I don't care what wiki says, still just user submitted info. Believe that if you want. Personal experience tells me otherwise.

Last year was decided by which god "won" and EVERBODY got that hat. I was going for Grenth, and we won. The ppl by Dwanya got horns, lol a couple were pissed about it, they wanted the santa hat. According to my guildies, they all expeirenced the same thing, and 1 said she was up by storage and got no hat at all. Perhaps the ppl saying winning god doesn't matter were just lucky their god won, who knows?

This year it seems we will help the gods win by giving them cc shards rather than just standing by them, we shall see.

and if this is the case, that is awesome. It truley makes majority of the Guild Wars Population happy and encourages gamers to organize and work together to get something accomplished. If a population of gamers wants Dwanya hats then they should be able rally players up and convince them to give shards to Dwanya. It's a good way to getting people to interact with each other in-game.

Its not the district, its what people in the district are doing, you just happened to be with the majority both times. The idea is that we try to coordinate people by district, if that fails then we will have to desperately search for districts supporting unpopular gods.

Yep i am sure. No matter which God you were supporting you got a hat from the winning god . If you stood by Dwayna when Grenth won you would get Horns Of Grenth and vice versa. This is not only supported by Wiki which is kept very accurate but also other players. It makes sense...why would the losing god celebrate?.

Of course if you were nowere near any of the gods you didnt get anything.

Anyway i am all for this Odd/Even district thing. With 4 hats to get (2 for me if the Tyrian ones are the same as last wintersday) it would be much more easy to get them
