I want to buy a new video card and I'm pretty sure my board only supports up to 8x, or possibly 16x, so what is the best card I could buy for around $250-$350?

i am assuming from that you know you have an AGP slot.

check with your pc maker first to see how high a new card you can get without having to upgrade the power supply.

something as small as a 7900 can add over 75-90 watts to the load and if your present power supply is already close to its limit you are out of luck

It may be pci express in pci express 8x speed or pci express 16x
