For the last couple of days, everytime I start up Guild Wars Prophecies, I have not been able to connect to Areanet. The menu just says "Connecting to Areanet...". Eventually I tire and just close the problem.

Why does this happen?

By the way, I have NetGear wifi.

Check your firewall and router. I had it too, and I had to fresh install GW it after I triple checked anything and found nothing wrong. Then it worked like a charm.

My friend just got GW:P and NF, initially GW played fine but his famlies wireless connection wasn't on properly. After they fixed that My friend starting getting the "connecting to Arenanet" message. He thought it may have had something to do with me -imaging the program the night before. He uninstalled GW and now he can't even install it due to that Connecting to Guildwars screen.

I've attempted to open ports 6112 and also opened port 80 but to no avail.
I tried to disable his windows firewall but it was already disabled. I have no clue what else it may be.

He's having all kinds of problems connecting to programs and webpages such as Aim and security pages such as bank websites.

i think it maybe related to the earthquake incident in Taiwan. I'm also having problems not only in GW, but also on YM and othe webpages.

I live in Manila btw.
