Yes! We did it tonight! We completed all four sections of the Domain of Anguish in one run.

(If you know what the Shard of Brilliance is, and you know how to get to the Veil from where you get it, you know all 4 quests are done) :P

We completed the run in 8 hours and 35 minutes. We nearly lost our monk at the exact same spot we lost our ranger last time, and we think it has to do with too many objects being left on the ground (after about half an hour in the place, no one picks up white and blue items). We had to have the monk drop out (disconnect himself) and reconnect while we picked up every crappy white item in radar range and deleted it.

Still, it was a very worthwhile and fulfilling experience. I am sure others will come and do this whole thing in 5 hours or less. but for now, it feels good to be the first group to have successfully completed this.

Other than the extra drops from the chests, there is no bonus towards fighting Mallyx himself. i.e. you do not get to fight him right away or skip the hordes that attack the priest before the Citadel door opens. In fact, you need to go back to the Gate of Anguish and speak with the priest to advance the quest.

Special thanks to the crew: Sal, Spardas, Hawks, Victor, Miriel, C and Fable. Also special thanks to the guys who have been helping me figure this out. They know who they are. Josh, Sky, Slim Shady and Kier to name a few.

i think they started at Gloom, then went to Foundry, City and Veil...

and as he said on the other post, with the stygian/foundry build they posted on guildwiki

there's a post for that somewhere here

hey, tell me this: it's easier to do Foundry from Gloom? i tried it one time and spent 7 hours to get nothing there ¬¬ (maybe the party was bad, but i thougth we were doing fine...)

I guess not sleeping for the nite and getting it done by 4:30AM in the morning wasn't that bad even though I did have to get to work by 6:00AM. Anyway, time to plan our next trip, haha. By the way, Lamees, I tried my luck with 2 coffers and guess what, I got 10 elixirs, woot. As for where we started from, ehhh, we started with Gloom.

Congrats to your team. Even with a well oiled team that is an amazing feat.

Do you recall roughly how many of each gem you got in the whole run?

Maybe armbraces aren't unatainable.

Congrats again.

Excellent...congrats.
Did your theory bear out, about the drops improving if you did all 4 quests consecutively? If I remember, that's what you thought the pattern might be...

To answer Arcmaster:

Well, let's see, about 15 torment gems total, at least 20 titan gems, about 30 margonite gems, and about 45 ish stygian gems, and the green weapons and primeval armor, lots of gold from chest as well as monster drops, =) in a run.

I personally got 16 gems, 1 Tormented, 3 Titan, 4 Margonite and 8 Stygian.

We started from Gloom because until now we have not found a way to do the quest at the start ("To The Rescue!") without having a serious risk of wiping. So, we do it first so that if we wipe we can start over quick (takes about 15 minutes to try) as opposed to wiping after completing an area or two.

Ideally, we want to start with City, then do Veil, then Gloom and finish with Foundry (to get 4 yummy Titan gems each). But the roadblaock is that quest in the Gloom.

And yes, the theory is not a theory any more. We got 1 Tormented Gem each from the Ravenheart Chest, we got 2 Titan Gems each from the Foundry Chest, we got 3 Margonite Gems each from the Torc'qua Chest and we got 4 Stygian Gems each from the Stygian Chest.

By the way, I saw 3 people in GoA dist 1 on Friday saying they had already done this. Still an incredible accomplishment even if you aren't the first. Of course they didn't have any proof of it so it doesnt really matter who is first. Just doing it is great whether you're #1 or #50.

I want to get more into it as well. Dont know where ill find the time to do some of the parts of it though. I max out at being able to play GW for 2 hours before I start either getting bored, tired, or yelled at by my girlfriend. If I can ever get it done, it definitely wont be successive.

1) No proof. Such a feat is one you post to the wrold, not spam in local chat.
2) We were the first to confirm that if you open chests in succession you get extra drops. We did that on Saturday.

It's easy to stand in local chat and claim all kinds of stuff. However, I would expect people who actually did it to showcase their achievement. Some guy was telling me he beat Mallyx before I even finished all 4 quests, and when I finally did and got to try for Mallyx, I discovered that all he was saying was made up and that he had no even seen Mallyx. So, in short... Talk is cheap.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess it was only a matter of time till your obsession completely overtook your life!! LoL, j/k Lamees. This holiday break looks like it was the perfect time to sit down and punish DoA down to a mere 8-some hours, GRATS!!

You most definitly know that i woulda totally been up for the challenge with yall, but alas, i am outta town with the family. ^_^" I will be 10x more impressed when you engineer the full DoA tour down to under 4 hours, then i wont have to request any days off work, LOL!!

Anywhoo, congrats again to you and your crew! Btw, Spardas, you CANNOT tell me your poor anymore, you can now buy your own damn 200+ ecto, haha ha ha ha ha.... etc.

LoL, peace out ill expect to see what yall bought with your riches when i get back!

For all I did and the many more times I finished DoA quests than Spardas did, he somehow got Armbraces by the time I got one. :P He got 2 Armbraces out of 9 Coffers. i.e. 2 Armbraces for 9 gems each instead of 1 for 15 each. That's Spardas for you.

So, in short... Talk is cheap. Well I dont know. I wouldn't doubt their accomplishment or them being the first simply because they didn't come and post it on an internet forum. There are many people who don't even come here. I was talking to a SF ele in there just last night and was talking to him about the potential SF nerf and mentioned it was being discussed on GWG and he has never heard of this site.

When the whole IDS thing was going on, I found one about 20 minutes after the update that added it. I didnt know about it. After that update, I decided on a whim to go to the ice cave and try and clear out the ice imps with henches. And I got an IDS drop. I went back to granite citadel and made a post about it in a full district and not one person knew what I was talking about. So I very well could have been the first to find one. Then I went right to gamefaqs I believe, possibly gwonline (cant remember) and I had 2 people immediately respond telling me it was "old/10" and that they already had them and they were worth nothing.

My point is that there's no way to truly hold the title of "I was the first to find an IDS", or "I beat the Mallyx quests in succesion first".

well... that's true...

some people just don't care about the communities...

i think it's great, and if it was me, would've done the same, with the screenshots and stuff...

but other form the majority that doesn't know about this, or other forums, many people (i know 2 of them) don't like forums, they think it's a waste of time, and just want to play the game...

and that's how it is... for me, Karlos and his gang will always be the first ones to do this, maybe others did it first, but it's like we live in other universes...

I think it's time you donate to the Spardas Fund, it's for a very very good cause. A couple of stacks of ectos will do.

4 hours, huh, lol. I say you take a day off from work Batou, I'm thinking Lamees is gonna aim for 7 hours or less. Problem is finding the right build to do City->Veil->Gloom->Foundry, instead of doing Gloom->Foundry->City->Veil. That way, we will get 4 titan gems to drop, muahaha, but yeah, 100% success in gloom is ehhhhh atm.

However, I am speaking out of familiarity with the top players in DoA (at least those in American districts), most of whom tried this with me or helped me with it at some capacity, and among those I know, we were the first. I find it hard to believe that there existed a group of these REALLY good players who can do these things in DoA (in American districts) that I did not hear of. You'll notice the many responses of people who have been in attempts with me or met me in DoA. We know (or know of) each other fairly easily at this point.

Heh, you can choose to believe it or not. Entirely up to you. That's not stopping Armbraces from coming out of coffers. I know two people who got Armbraces out of coffers already. My uneducated guess would estimate the chance at under 10%.
