Lost all my charrs:S

Hey,

Does anybody here knows how it is possible that I just lost all my charrs.
I was just playing gw and it suddenly crashed, I thought it just losed connection so I re-started it and all my charrs were gone!!
So I made a new one (I know that's a little strange most other ppl would just quit gw for a while) and my storage was still there with all the stuff I left in it.

I already reported it to NC but they said the couldnt do anything about it, so I guess I'm just doomed to start all over again (with some more exp of the game so maybe that's the nice thing of it)

I just would like to know how this is possible so if someone can tell me that it would be great

It looks like you've been hacked.. but as i don't had any problems with this yet i can't tell it for sure

I would email anet. I have 3500 spiked eggnog, 600 peppermint CC and 500 wintergreen cc and some FOW armor on a mule I created to have room for thw winter's day items. If I lost my character (my mule) I would cry like a little girl.

The onloy advice I can think of is to let anet know. Perhaps they can restore the charactes for you.

They will not restore his characters or anything they may have been holding.

My only advice is for you to change both your password and the associated e-mail address and start over. Your reported crash was prolly due to someone else logging on whist you were logged on, thus booting you.

1 question, when u 'crashed' did u get an error message or a codde xx message?
if so, can u post it here, then if any1 else get hacked, they might know, and could quickly log bk on, and change password

I'm very sad for your loss too.
From the sounds of it another person may have gotten into your game and quickly deleted your characters, but when you renentered it booted them off.
I've read that if anyone else logs on under your account it will kick you off, and if you log back on it will kick them off.

Even if that happened to me (hopefully it won't), I'd still PvP at least. Come to think of it, I don't PvP with my PvE characters. They're just... there...

But yes, sorry for your loss.

Would anybody have the ability to "hack" your account? Have you ever shared your account name and password with anyone, is your password easily guessable, have you let anyone play your account at some point, and have you downloaded any dubious software that could contain a keylogger?

If you were using any third party program, like a bot (or if you downloaded an alleged cheat program), a keylogger could have given someone else your password. This is the most likely case. Otherwise your password was too easy to guess.

Goodness, if that ever happened to me...I don't know what crazy thing I would do. Sorry for your loss.

And about the char's, it may be a bug, but no one can do crap about it and they won't bother to try.

I just don't understand how in they hacked his account between the time he crashed and reconnected...supposedly it was right after...

and even wierder... they didn't go into his storage. Strange, but... sorry man.

OP said he restarted his com so i think the hacker had about 3-5 mins which is more than enough time to clear up most of his stuff. probably the hacker was running to the storage when the OP logged back in.

well , i guess we need to know if you lost your char becouse someone deleted them or it was a bug.

Your computer takes 3-5 minutes to restart? Eek, mine takes like 30 seconds tops.

Also, he said it crashed, he lost connection, he didn't say what the error was. I may be mistaken but when someone else logs into your account while you're online it kicks you with an error. Meaning someone could have logged into his account, thus kicking him, and deleted the stuff.

-change your password every 1-2 weeks
-never buy anything from plaync as its ezist to hack
-never log on to Guild wars on another accouht other then yours

If they are smart enough to hack into his account they would not be stupid enough to let him have access to his account. This sounds like it could be a bug with the reconnects. Or possibly someone with a grudge against you.

virus things i dont think they will work that well but go for it good ones will stop anything

It seems like a lot of people think Anet is uncaring and cold when it comes to things like this, but I mean realistically, is there one online game where if your account gets hacked you get your characters restored ?
Think for a second of the can of worms that would be opened the minute a company decided they would try to restore poor Billy's acct. They would be immediatley buried in requests for acct restoration, lot easier to farm greens this way,and quickly bankruptcy would follow. And before I get torched by the naysayers, Im sure in this day and age there probably "could" be a system of acct. restoration that would work,I think we do have the technology, but it will never happen, there are too many schiesters, and con artists just waiting to exploit the next game breaking bug, and that is what acct restoration would be, game breaking.
All that being said, I feel the OP's pain, Im sure I would feel rightly ripped off, and horribly discouraged. May your drops in the near future bring you much wealth.

GW's has only been out, what 3 yrs, a little less, was released in April of 2005, sooo this April it'll be 3 no ? That means that 50000 is a wicked exxageration as you cannot even play 50000 hrs in that amount of time. more like half that and that would be playing 24hrs a day. ie theres only 8760 hrs in a year. LOL that is some serious playing time.

From experience, I know that when someone logs on when you're playing, it kicks you with an error message that SAYS you lost the connection because someone else logged on. So, if this was indeed the case, he should know. Unless he doesn't read error messages.

Even so, it only takes a second to log back on. If the game itself crashed (ie, not just booted back to the log screen) then something else happened.

And no, I wasn't hacked.

WoW restores your character if it has been hacked. My raid leader got hacked and in 3-4 weeks she got back her stuff courtesy of Blizzard.

well at least you have the patience to restart.

The leader of my last guild got her account hacked and unaccessible 2 times..i think shes on her 3rd account.

and on a good side, at least you still have some money and items in your storage, and the skills unlocked.

yep, it says

you find out when u start swapping items about 2 accounts (your own 2 accounts) and then when your done u login to the other one account..
