And it was a gift.. I don't see how you would need a refund..

I agree that it's odd that the GOTY items can't be upgraded, but your chances of getting a refund, especially for a reason like this, are probably slim to none. "Caveat emptor" and all that.

Earlier Gaile Gray believed that the GOTY weapons were supposed to be upgradeable. Last time I saw, she was going to check with ANET if it was supposed to be like that. Hold your fingers crossed, and hope anet just made a bug this time.

Well, when i got the GOTY edition for the items i added mods to a few of them, i couldnt replace any mods, but i added +5AL to the bow and modded a few others, can you not do that at all now?

5 dollars for unlimited items to use on all your characters and heroes, sounds like a good deal to me .... So you can't upgrade them ... Use them until you find something better.
I'm still waiting for them to upgrade the Proph pre-order items.
