Has anyone tried playing an A/P with 16 in CS, and uses a spear. I've tried it a little combined with "Go for the Eyes", but I don't have many skills atm. It seems to critical a lot but not a lot of damage done really.

I thought about doing that but haven't really seen any skills useful with the build when I was brainstorming. I like my melee stuff anyway so I'll hold it off for someone else to do it.

I think an Assassin/Paragon would go much better with daggers. Because shouts like [skill=text]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill] and [skill=text]Anthem of Flame[/skill] would still work on Assassin dagger attacks.

Anthem of Flame is Leadership. So...

Eh, still causes burning for at least one second, so... yeah. Assassins don't need to be in there longer than 7 seconds anyway.

Yeah I'm starting to think that Assassin primary is only viable using daggers.

My initial hope was to stay out of the fray and lob spears, thereby avoiding the whole jumping in and out of battle thing.
I've been running this

Crit Strikes 16
Spear 10
Command 10

1 Sharpen Daggers
2 Critical Eye
3 Go for the Eyes
4 Anthem of Envy or Godspeed
5 Vicious Attack
6 Cruel Spear or Spear of Lightning
7 Rez Sig or Cap Sig
8 Assassins Remedy

Does decent damage but nowhere near what an Assassin w/ daggers could do. Causes deep wound and bleeding on pretty much every foe you attack. Energy is never a problem. Slow building up adrenaline for cruel spear, which makes an energy spear better in that slot.

the paragon already has some good skills that bleed [card]barbed spear[/card] and cause more criticals [card]"go for the eyes!"[/card]

so... why not just switch to primary para and benefit from

....more armour+max sheild
....higher damage with spear with runes (also increasing chance to crit)
....all other skills would benefit from runes as well (you only have 2 assasin skills)

Same idea as the Critical Barrager, use Sin primary to take advantage of high natural Critical chance.

The only issue is, the Crit Barrager does multi target damage, spreading degen from Bleeding. The Paragon is a single target damager using spears, and a Dagger Sin FAR outstrips their damage capablity.

In this case, I'm inclined to agree with clawofcrimson on going Para primary. But try it out and see how it works!

The whole point of cit barrager is that you get up to 6 critical hits, and inflict bleeding on 6 foes at once...

Spears are useless in this respect, because the whole idea behind barrage doesn't apply.

Scythes won't work either, because they require to you tank due to slow attack speed.

Axes/swords/hammer... better off sticking to daggers.

Aside from the crit barrage, an assassin really belongs using daggers.

The reason it sucks is because spear skills suck. Damage is piddly when using them, and the critical range is not as high as that of a bow. It doesn't help that enemies can strafe your spears by walking.

There are other weapons that an assassin can use somewhat effectively, including axes, scythes, and bows. I haven't seen any sword builds yet that look very hot, but I wouldn't mind being surprised to see one.The attack speed of a scythe is faster than a bow, and I don't see how your weapon choice dictates your play style - "tanking."
If you had the great idea to run up there and whammo with a scythe on your assassin, that's your fault. Just because you can't play a a certain build doesn't mean that it's not valid.

I agree with jesh, assassins can do so much more than daggers, but most people never see that, I wouldn't be suprised if someone found a nice A/P build.
