N/D Pious MM

After abit of fun messin around as an N/D mm, I think I've found a build I really like:
Death magic: 16 (12 + 3 +1)
Soul reaping: 12 (10 + 2)
Earth Prayers: 8
Skills:
Aura of the lich
Animate bone fiend
Blood of the master
Conviction
Vital boon
Signet of pious light
Optional
The point of the build is to spam Blood of the master with Aura of the lich barely sac'ing any health at all, so you can constantly heal your minions allowing them to take large bit of damage before they die. You'll also have some extra protection using [skill]Conviction[/skill]. Dark bond is a very nice skill to reduce damage, but Conviction obviously won't damage your minions. [skill]Vital Boon[/skill] + [skill]Signet of Pious Light[/skill] are used for healing. At 8 Earth prayers, VB+Pious sig heal for exacly 220hp. That also happens to be the exact amount healed if Heal area was used twice with 8 in Healing. Since your health is being halved by AotL, the healing from those 2 will usually max out your health bar. The only 2 enchantments in this build also have a positive effect if they're moved. AotL will result in your normal health amount being restored and heal for 253hp, and Vital boon will heal for 142hp. Because Conviction is a stance, it'll rarely be removed and if both your enchantments go down, you'll get +3regen from it. VB+Pious sig already heal for large amounts as it is, but if you get into an emergency, you can manually end AotL and get a full heal. Because you can keep your minions alive well and heal almost completely for only 5 energy, I'd recommened using this build where corpses are scarce.
For the optional slot, you can put in a Res sig, or another minion of choice. Infuse condition would be good to protect yourself from poison, or other degen.
In areas where you'll know hexes will become a problem, [skill]Pious Restoration[/skill] can be used to end Vital boon, and remove a hex at the same time (assuming VB was removed while enchanted with AotL). If Pious restoration is used, put whatever points you have left into Wind prayers. Taking down your rank in Soul reaping by one will let you put alot more points into Wind prayers, and have just enough to remove 2 hexes.

The reason I don't understand is.... why do you need all these Earth stuff when you already got AOTL? You can take 14 SR (11 + 3) and use the rest of the points into Blood Magic for Blood Renewal. Dark Bond also happens to be in Blood Magic and it will allow you to tank (achieves the job of Conviction even better with less points). Since you got AOTL, saccing for BOTM is not a problem. Right now your heal is kind of overkill =X
And Mystic Vigor increases your health, which is something you do not want when you sac (not that much since you got AOTL, but still felt like pointing it out)
But either way, it's still a nice build - great for situations where they remove your enchants.

But either way, it's still a nice build - great for situations where they remove your enchants. I have 441hp. When I use AotL, I sac 29hp with 10 minions. The extra 72+hp from Vital boon causes me to sac only 32hp. You get much more extra hp than you sac. The extra hp would actually help out since AotL is cutting your normal health amount in half. Conviction doesn't give as much protection as Dark bond, but 24+ armor is still alot and and won't damage your minions.
The healing in the build is supposed to be overkill. You can use BotM a bunch of times, then get all the lost hp back just by using Vital boon + Sig of pious light once. A downside about using Blood renewal to heal is that if AotL gets stripped, you're gonna need a 2ndary heal because BR won't heal much at all if you're sac'ing 25%hp without AotL and a low rank in Blood magic. If you don't like having 8 points in Earth, you can always lower it, but don't forget that very high Soul reaping isn't always helpful - your energy will get maxed out plenty of times during combat making a high rank in Soul reaping a waste of attribute points. That's also why Sig of lost souls is there.....a more controlled way to gain energy

looks like a solid build...however I think having a rez is a must...but then you will only have fiends to summon and not anything else like shambling horrors or vamp horrors.

He only has Fiends in the first place, which is fine because everyone knows that's where the damage comes from. Also, he has an "Optional" slot, just throw in a rez.

Like xiaotsu said, you actually don't need all those other extra minions spells. Fiends cost 25 energy for a reason =p Besides the faster attack speed, the range is really important. All melee minions are really slow and lazy. They have a hard time picking targets, and even then they don't attack instantly. Fiends usually all shoot the same target untill it's dead, and just have to turn a little to fire on the next. Melee minions do have better armor, but that's the point of this build - spam BotM so much that the lower armor won't make that much of a difference. 10 fiends = overkill There's a huge difference in damage compared to controlling 10 horrors/shamblings.
As for the res, I actually rarely bring a res when I MM. It's not often a team with an MM gets into a really bad situtation where everyone is near death (from my experience). If things do start gettin bad, the team is usually smart enough to let the minions soak up all the damage and use that time to retreat.
