I just logged on today to find out that I suddenly gained a death from nowhere.
Last night just before I logged off I had 0 deaths and I was trying to gain the second tier of Survivor.
How can I suddenly have a death if I wasnt even on at the time?
Whats going on Arena Net?!

someone logged on your character and died? Or you were lagging while fighting or something and you died while your computer was turning off?

if you logge dout in themiddle of a fight then it sometimes adds you a death.

Neither is a possibility since no one knows my password and I was in Beacon's Perch when I logged off

That sucks but there's nothing to be done about it I'm afraid. I had a similar issue quite some time ago with a survivor being killed during a cutscene (no fault of my own, died due to a bug). Contacting Anet support the response back was along the lines of "we won't roll back your character or correct your char" no matter if it was from a bug or anything.
I think the same philosophy applies if you get scammed or something unexpected happens like a result of bugs, you just gotta live with it I'm afraid.

Well thats it I'm done trying to get Legendary Survivor, this was my 8th attempt and this is the 6th time I've died because of a damn bug.

I feel your pain. My character died during the cut scene after the Vizunah Square mission last night. I guess the good thing is that I only had 290k experience.

When you died, you had 201,328 XP. How did you get the other 76 XP? This may be a clue as to when you died.
I have 3 legendary survivors and 3 more in the works. I would be pissing mad if one died due to a bug.

If you played yesterday I noticed heavy lags and hiccups. Real nasty ones in the morning of 12/28 central time. Lots of people are playing because of the holidays. Could you have possibly died, and then got resurrected by a henchmen? Before the hiccup/lag caught up? And then zoned out of the area without noticing the negative DP? This happened to me yesterday I only noticed the negative DP.

The reason I have an extra 76 xp is because I wanted to go see if the 1 death wasnt a glitch and that maybe I would still be able to get my title.

My Paragon is slowly but surely annoying FFF groups in Lutgardis dooring his way to r3 =). Best method ever.

Some people have stated that hostile minions can turn on you once Shiro slays the party in the cut scene, thus causing a death. But I don't see how any minions could have turned on me since I skipped the entire cut scene.
I also doubt that my death was due to lag. I had near a full health bar immediately before the mission ended (approximately 555HP--any missing HP was due to a few seconds degen from a vampiric bow string), so I don't think I could have experienced any significant damage or health degen between the time that we killed the last guy and the beginning of the cut scene. And I'm pretty sure that my health never dropped below 70% during the mission, so I don't think that I could have died somehow and been immediately rezzed without me knowing.
I still haven't figured out with any certainty how I died.

I think the Survivor title was just a really bad idea to begin with. It encourages people to quit or abandon their team when in danger of dying. And of course, there's the bug that ruins all the effort put into it anyway. I'm not dissing anyone trying to get the title, but this title, among a few others (Commander anyone?) just make the game experience a little bit worse.

I think that if you intend to use any logoff method to prevent a death, then you should not party-up with real people, or else you should fully disclose to your party members that you are trying for Surivor and may abandon your party at any time.

I also disagree that Anet should restore a survivor character, even due to a "bug". How many whiny kids would be sending them e-mails lying about how they died and lost the survivor title? Waaaay to many.

And I know the OP and all these other threads claim they were just in a town and died and some mysterious bug killed them, but what's much more likely is that they died due to their own carelessness and don't take notice until later, or they tried to cheat death by logging out, and the death doesn't show up until later or something...
Either way, theres' so friggen many of these posts, and complaining here about mysterious bugs that ruined your survivor isn't going to bring the title back, so why bother?

Im just surprised, and sorry for going a little OT, how the heck did you get to that point having explored so little territory ?Less than 5% of either Tyria, or Cantha,how in the world ? Seems like a tiny amount for a fairly experienced toon, I mean know 280000 isnt a ton of XP but its a bit, Id just expect a little more to be explored thats all.

Managed to get it on my Mesmer, now doing it on an Ele. The dreams are back D:

There is a known bug in the vizunah square mission that gives a death to a few unlucky (not the ones with the title unlucky) players. It happened to me on one o my characters just as I was about to max the title, and I didn't even need the mission I was just helping out a guildmate.

I just find it sad that everyone feels like they accomplished something by doing the door or leeching on a group to get the title...Not by actually playing the game and surviving but finding the easiest possible way to get there. ROFLMAO, okay some of them will go far in the business world, CEO's of the future...

I'll have to admit, I did farm my title for my Mesmer. Quests, End game Prophecies quests, Missions and Bonus, Masters Missions and capping the elites for my primary.
It isn't worth it otherwise.
