Update the Canthan Targe!

The Canthan Targe is a shield that came with the presale for prophicies, but unlike all other presale items its not max and it is the only item in the entire game that has multiple requirements to use.



My sugestions are one of two changes.

1) Armor increased to 16 req 9 tactics
Drop req for 30hp bonus

2) Armor increased to 16 req 9 tactics
Increase energy bonus to 5

Given all of the requirements for the bonuses on this shield either of these would be much more practical than its current setup.
Note the energy can't stack as they removed that bug long ago.

It isn't the only weapon w/ multiple req.s. But you have a good point.
But point 2 is way overpowered compared to point 1. >_>

Shield isn't tradeable...look under the modifiers it has.

I don't have one of these, but like the GOTY items at least they are maxed, and have somewhat desireable stats. I think maxing it, and removing the req for the 30hp is fair. It wouldn't make it a godly item, but more useful than it is in its current state.

For the record there are I think 5 prophecies preorder items, none of which are max. The reason they were made that way, was because at the time, having a max weapon could have been potentially unbalancing. Nowadays of course it's not, which is why the more recent preorder items have been max. I have no problem if ANet wants to update the items, but at the same time, it's no skin off my nose if they don't.

No this post has nothing to do with the sword, guess I should have equiped a collectors one instead....

yes the second option is a little over powered but it does maintain 3 requirements to get all the bonuses, I think that could justify the extra energy.

meh...there are so many other things they need to improve before even CONSIDERING improving a shield that was released a LONG time ago. It's just not a too important...sorry

The prophecies pre-order items are in long need of a rebalancing.

I have the Ithas Bow on my account. The stats on that are just as messed up. It's not max dmg, req 10 marks, has a +5 armor mod that has a req of 10 exp.

All of the Prophecies preorder items are the same way, not max dmg, not max mods, etc. It's not a matter of being unbalanced, it's a matter of Presearing Ascalon. Giving users max dmg and armor weapons in such an early area of the game would create unbalance.

Yes... you can get these times that early in Cantha and Elona... but that is a different system in which users can learn the mechanics of the game and is a greater challenge than anything you'll find in Presearing Ascalon.

Of course, one then has to consider the GotY Items for Prophecies. They ARE max dmg, and max mods. The only thing similar is that some of them also have multiple requirements. Are they creating an imbalance since they are available in Presearing Ascalon? You'd think if they were going to update the Prophecies Preorder items they would have done so when the GotY items were added.

I agree it would be nice if these preorder items were updated. Even though I have access to them, I'm just not entirely convinced it's needed. I do believe Anet has stated on numerous occasions that the Prophecies Preorder items will never be updated and forever shall remain as is.

If anything were to be done to these items, including the GotY items, I would suggest Anet make them modable again.

I would love to actually be able to use my canthan targe... nowadays its just pointless

All Preorder items and GotY items are precusomized, cannot be put into Trade windows and can not be dropped on the ground.

Of course they do, show me where else you can customize a shield
