Taste of Death; AI TOO Efficient?

Something I noticed with Olias...

When he's in trouble and his health is below 100 with MAJOR degen, he won't use Taste of Death even with minions present.

Now...

He has 435 health and Taste of Death will heal him for 420.

I'm thinking the AI doesn't overheal, if it can be avoided. This means Olias won't use Tase of Death until his health is 15 or lower, correct?

He also has Signet of Lost Souls. Perhaps he won't use Taste of Death with that around?

Enemy MM's use it appropriately so the AI is there. Mine uses it when I put it on his skill bar.

Open his skill bar and watch what he is casting - play with skill location on the bar (I try and push self heal skills that they seem to know when to use as far left as possible to make sure something doesn't get a higher priority) and it may even take removing some skill. It may very well be that he doesn't want to kill a minion when the Signet of Lost Souls is available.

I've never seen it worry with "over healing" - the enemy AI doesn't seem to either. In fact, it tends to "over heal" in irritating ways quite often.

I have the following mm build on olias

-Jagged bones
-Death nova
-Animate bone horror
-signet of lost souls
-taste of death
-verata's gaze
-verata's aura
-res signet

He will use most of the time lost souls very efficiently, and in the rare case he gets in trouble he uses taste of death, but due no recharge time its difficult to spot he has used it. Also no minion loss often as they are often enchanted with jagged bones. At death 13-14 this build performs farely ok. I don't want to invest money in death sup runes, neither do I believe that the decrease in health is good once you start accumulate dp. It happens once in a while and thats why I most of the time don't use sup runes. My paragon is an exception to it.

They never use taste of death for me either. Its not a case of me not spotting it, eventually I was spending entire fights doing nothing but staring at the minion master. To be honest, I have no idea why he doesn't use it. I've tried dropping death so it heals for less (no overhealing) and still he'd rather get killed than use it. I've even tried forcing him to use it, disabling all the other skills, manually activating it etc. He won't use it.

Now I just use Dark Bond, it functions perfectly at 0 blood, and the NPC seems to use it very appropriately/all the time they're getting hit.

He uses Taste properly. And I have it on his last skill slot... so... idk

Heroes don't use Verata's Gaze for some reason... I gave them Malign Intervention and Verata's Gaze and they just kill the summoned minion...

and um... if you want to MM then get 16 Death Magic.. there is no excuse for not having it. Minions are 2 levels higher, have about 8% more armor and damage or something.

I don't think the AI worries about overhealing. Alesia will gladly throw an orison followed by a Heal other, an Infuse and another orison on you when you're 10 points below maximum.
