Do I need Guild Wars original + Factions to play Nightfall?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I'm bored of my most recent MMO, and I'm looking to buy a new one. I'm really into the PVP aspect of RPG games, and some friends of mine pointed me into the direction of GW

Hmm, my main question is: the thread title. Do I need to spend money on the first 2 games to play Nightfall?

I used the search button, and looked at FAQ. Sorry if this has been asked before I have not seen it.

No you don't. To play Nightfall, you only need..well, Nightfall. However, if you're thinking of getting into pvp, you'll will almost definitely have to buy Prophecies (the original Guild Wars) at the very least because you'll need to have access to certain skills. If you have only Nightfall, you won't be able to access Prophecies and Factions skills, and Nightfall skills alone won't cut it.

Alright. So, buy original GW + Nightfall, and I'm set? Or will I be SOL with Faction's stuff?

To get the most out of PvP, you should get all three chapters. It's not absolutely necessary, but if you don't have all three, I'd recommend playing one of the two Nightfall professions so your skill selection isn't disadvantaged compared to other people.

since u r looking for the pvp experience, there 2 ways about doing it. 1 is making a pve character and using that/those characters and 2, making pvp only characters.. now with the introduction of titles into the game i would make an effort to get all 3 chapters. if its just pvp u want to do then i would suggest factions (alliance battles) and if u could get 2 chapters it would be factions + nightfall so u could get heroes and have access to hero battles. with any chapter u get u will still have access to plenty of pvp areas (heroes ascent, team arenas, random arenas and gvg).
