How to get to Crystal Desert?

Hi all! Paid someone to give me a run to Droks the other day (nice way to get a little advantage in this game), so here I am at Droks fuming because it'll cost gazillions of gold to get that armor set.

But aside from that, my question is, how do I get to Crystal Desert? I've been reading up on pets and I'm tired of the boring pets my N/R has had all along and it's gonna have to be a lizard from the desert....but how do i get there (via runner, that is)? Not that I have enough money for that, but I'd still like to know the route. Is it a mission that puts you there, or is there a boat ride from one of the ports?

Thanks.

most runs run from loins arch to Sactum Cay. at Sactum Cay, do the mission and you will be in the desert.

You got a run to Droks, but you can't afford the armor, and have no idea how the storyline progresses? Seriously, go back to Ascalon and play the damn game. The best armor and pet won't help if your skillbar sucks and you have no clue how play your character with any sort of skill.

The game isn't designed to be run through. Also 1.5k per armor piece is not alot of gold at all let alone "gazillions". If you just play through the story line you will get to the desert. In fact if you went by the story line you'd be to the desert before you get to Droks.

Anyhow assuming you're only as far as the Northern Shiverpeaks as that is where you were run from. You need to continue from the Northern Shiverpeaks through Kryta, followed by Maguma Jungle then back through Kryta. You will eventually end up at Sanctum Cay. This is the mission you beat to get to the desert.

This is obviously your first time playing through prophecies. So I suggest you just play through the storyline and you should have plenty of gold by the time you're supposed to be to Droknar's Forge to buy armor there.

PS: You obviously want to be run through the game. Why do you even have Guild Wars at all if you don't want to really play? Because by getting run al over the place your first time you really are missing out on most of the game.

Getting ran is fun but I only get runs since i've beat the game so I know the storyline and I don't want to go through it all again.

If it's your first time then play through it. Get mission/bonuses and pick up gold/items along the way.

Sanctum Cay is the mish to get to desert. Afer last mish in desert you would have found yourself at Droks.

As far as I know, the Droknar runners charge 10k now. Unless that was changed recently. So how did you pay for a run yet can't afford the armour? If it's your first time playing, don't run through the game. You'll not understand how the game works, how the enemies are and what has happened through the story. Racing to level 20 means nothing if you don't understand what's going on around you.

Thanks for those who gave me the simple answer I was looking for. And to the yahoos who decided to criticize me like I'm some 13 year old trying to "finish" the game the 'wrong' way, and complaining about it or something, you misread.

I had paid a runner to go to droks because that's where everyone (except the disciplined vets and gurus on this board) says to craft good armor. I checked out the armor on wiki and noticed it was probably double the armor defense of the stuff I crafted in Ascalon...so naturally, I thought that since i'm getting my ass kicked in the lands I should have advanced from already, that I'd save money, get out there, make good armor, then RETURN TO MY INTENDED maps and quests and have fun going through the course of the game. Yes, I'm aware that just playing the game as intended is the way to go..i'm not trying to cheat my way through or skip things..just thought I'd improve my armor because yes, I'm aware that it won't make much difference. So when I got to Droks, i noticed it would cost between 15k-20k to put together a set of armor.

So abandoning that idea until I saved considerably more money, I thought "hey, already here at droks, might as well find out how to get one of them cool lizards for a pet." And yes, I already know the pets have identical damage amounts as each other (or so I think I read). Just wanted to give my necro an appropriate looking pet instead of the boring wolf or lynx my rangers have used.

Innocent enough question? Apparently not. So sorry to you old timers who think I'm some FPS psycho trying to "win" the game in 3 days or something! lol And if you didn't pick up on the vibe above, I actually am playing this game because of it's slow pace knowing the investment of time allocated will be considerable.

Like all above said go back and play..you do not need max level armor so early on. Knowing how to play good is like wearing max armor.

Do missions/quests until you get to LA (Lions Arch) buy the armor there and that will offer enough protection until you can afford the end-game armor.

If you sell all white drops to merchant NPC and salvage any materials you will have enough gold to buy the end-game armor in a few weeks.

.....thanks dude...i hadn't thought of that. thanks for clearing it up... you might want to go to every town and tell all the other players that since they're making runs to towns they don't belong to in droves! holy hell! if you don't stop them, then the whole world will be missing out on the whole entire game and it'll piss off EVERYONE!! lol

lol they mean no harm to you...it's just funny in-game when a lvl20 asks where the crystal desert is and they are wearing the most exspesive armor going..it's happened more then once.

well, frankly, ANYONE in obsidian armor is just a laughing stalk as far as i'm concerned..and a relentless farmer/runner/gold buyer. however, my wee necro with a lizard for a pet would be dang cool and make them charr run.

Several reasons to go and do the story line properly: 1 unless you go to the desert and Ascend, you will not be able to go to FOW or UW. 2 Several things are made more clear by doing the game by the storyline (who the true baddy is for example) 3 If you have Factions that is the true best place for armor not Droks anymore (the armor in Kieneng Center is pretty much the same except for the type of armor).
Unless you only have Profecies a run to Droks is now useless.

the way to the crystal desert via runners is, get a run to lions arch, then pick up a run to sanctum cay, you can get run through the sancum cay mission, and your in the desert!

ps. if you hunt around you can get a cheap droks run, last week i got a dual run there for 3k.
