I've seen 4 others do that, but i dont know they did it...i think it has something to do with dying and then getting rezed up there maybe.

I got a good way of picking up AFKers presents faster than most people can click. It's really stupid to have presents spawn up there though - I don't see how A-net didn't see this before you uh... play-testing this? Oh well. I got a lot of presents from hopping around even with hats. I just need Dwanya's new one. :]

Some advice from Gaile. If you move away from the ledges to the middle, then the presents wont get stuck.

What you do is die as close to the ledge as possible. When you get rezzed, sometimes, but rarely, you get up there on the ledge when you rez. YAY PRESENTS.

That is a member of the development team. I have been doing the same. I'm gathering the unclaimed (and unassigned, so I can't get them to their assignees) gifts and I want to try some way to get them to the players who were not able to attend the event, but I have to figure out how to do that.
As you may be aware, there was an earthquake near Taiwan. I'm told that some Asian players have not been able to attend the Wintersday event. Now, I can't get them a hat -- hats are customized. However, what if there was a way to get them a Wintersday gift or two? That's what I'm hoping to do!
So, nobody is exploiting this, we just don't want the items to go to waste. Thanks for understanding.
And yes, to avoid having your Wintersday Gifts land on a ledge, please stand near the Xunlai Agents or outside the courtyard, NOT on either side of the ledges, as the gifts land near you and can get stuck.

I actually manaaged to get up on the grenth side. I tucked my character into the corner that is formed by the stairs and the ledge to where the presents drop on the grenth side. I waited for death and boom my body spawned on the ledge above - and when I was ressed poof ... I was on the ledge..(unfortunatly I didnt take a SS. but i did manage to flash my tiger over the ledge =p) ...stupidly i talked to grenth and got ported out of the ledge area.
So I go back down to try to get back up so I can wait for the ~10 presents get unassigned ... and what do I see but about 5-8 people doing the method I used to get up there. I think 2 got up before it ended (I didnt get the chance to die again, so i didnt get up again)
But its definatly possible to get up grenth side ... gg no z-axis gw programmers
