hi there,
I am planning to buy Guildwars today, going to the shop on my way home this afternoon. I alrdy found quite some information about the game except for one thing:
Which game should i buy first: Prophecies or Nightfall?
Help would be much appreciated.
Thx,
Legil
Prophecies or Nightfall?

Prophecies is the first GW game, so you should get that if you don't have any of them yet. You can learn the game easily from it, and it's also good for a lot of free skills.

Personally started with Nightfalls first and later on went to prophecies.
I recommend you Prophecies cos it is very easy to follow. great tips for beginners and you get free skills... almost all are free. In nightfalls most of them you have to pay. But i still prefer Nightfalls story.

In my opinion Prophecies would be an excellent choice. The pre-searing(intro+ how to use) is very informative and is quite fun. Nightfall tends to be a little tougher in my opinion; so since you are new to the game i'd choose Prophecies. I'm not downputting Nightfall, as it is a VERY GOOD game:-but tends to jump from very easy to very difficult.
Elder of Clan
In my opinion Prophecies is the best balanced of the three games for beginners. I think fighting Charr is a great way to learn new skills.
Prefectus
i would go with prophecies it brings you in to the game at a better pace then just leveling on a noob island and being droped off on the mainland of hell, i have all 3 campains and prophecies is imo the best for beginers
Star Naiad
ok that’s it, I’m going to have to buy prophecies if i want to learn the game cuz nightfall is like someone just picked me and dropped me in an unknown land.. it can be ridiculously hard.

IMO, prophecies was the most fun, but nightfall had the best story.
Another thing to consider is, some areas of prophecies are very empty. Basically, if you are following the story, you will be on your own after Lions Arch until you get to Droknars Forge. And to be honest, when I played through my first time that was the area that I had the most trouble with. When I was doing it I was still a noob and didn't really know what I was doing, but by the end I was experienced enough to get through the end of the game quests without too much trouble.
