Sorry, pet peeve of mine, but they TOLD everybody to hold on to them! I'm just shocked to be hearing people on the forums, who are far more informed, in general, talking about getting rid of ccs. Tsk Tsk...

Most people on these forums are quite aware of that statement. The problem was not that people didn't read that statement but that the statement itself was nebulous. If you look through recent threads on this topic you will see that many people interpreted that remark in different ways. It is easy to say, after the event, hey look you all should have known but at the time A-nets intentions for the shards were nebulous.

Well with the revalation of the gift giver CC shards are now 100g each

seeing how his CC shards come out to be 50g each he MURDERED his 1million gold he spent on cc shards is now worth 2million

I'm bummed that I didn't take the time to hoard a few more shards, but I'm happy for Kurt, he took a risk and it's paid off big time.
Has anyone seen him since the new NPC arrived?

When I went to Kamadan this morning to finish some trades with players, I noticed the NPC, quickly grabbed my 200+ something shards and ran over n traded them all over for gifts!! ^^

I won a lot from the dwayna vs grenth nine rings! ^^

Possibly but since it's an Internet game it could have been a last minute thing..at the end of the day it doesn't matter either way.

Speculation..Gaile read Kurt's posts and decided to bail him out..

Im sure the Wintersday Gift Giver was in the picture seeing how within the first two days i got myself 500 shards and you needed at max about 5 CC to do the event.

Aww, I got 250 candy cane shards from farming charr and then I stopped picking them up because I wanted room for the dyes that kept dropping. At least I didn't throw away the stack after midnight, I figured I'd wait until I play again today to sell them for 1g each to the merchant. To be honest, if I didn't read about Kurt's investment, I would have merched that stack of candy cane shards before I went to sleep, and I'd be really sad that I screwed myself out of all those presents I'm going to get today.

BTW, since his title is now "banned" what was the custom title Kurt had? And how do you get a custom title without being a mod? I saw some guy whose title is King of Spam or something like that.

Yeah I was lucky to have kept three stacks of shards. Traded them all for presents, got a lot of each item.

Of course I saw people offering to buy shards at ridiculously low prices. I of course proceeded to advise everyone to keep them and check out the Wintersday Gift Giver first, something the would be shard buyers won't tell anyone about. Cause of course that's the idea behind them buying for cheapskate prices.

At least a couple weren't too pleased, oh well.

I'm saying it's not as easy to sell off thousands of Shards and Presents at a set price to make a definite profit as the majority of you think it is.

If he gets his money back, good for him. If he profits, better for him. The fact remains that it was a very risky gamble, and a relatively stupid move to make (even if the end result does turn out to be net gain).

It's not the last line that is a hint to keep the shards for AFTER the event, it's this one.

There is absolutly nothing confusing whatsoever in that statement. The only mystery is what the item would be and how many needed to be kept. Why do you think Kurt made his gamble in the first place? It wasn't just because he thought they were pretty, he was hoping for Rainbows, but that was before it was confirmed that rainbows didn't recharge skills. I think he made off ok with the gifts, but I agree with Faer above, it's no easy feat to move that much product. Hell, it would have been time consuming enough to move a thousand. And it's absolutly hilarious that he has, what, 24,000 clicks of the mouse in his future if he wants to convert then open them all to see if he gets enough cc and nogs.

P.S. there is no tone that you can insert into a post, I'm only jokingly scolding people, I'm not trying to be an ass.

Please refrain from discussing moderation action in this topic, or anywhere else. It's grossly off-topic, and it's between the staff and the individuals involved, and nobody else. The administrators handle such things via PM and e-mail personally with the individual.
The deleted topic referenced was removed for the same reason. Since, after a similar warning, and the deletion of such posts, people simply picked right back up where the deletions ended the discussion, it was determined that only removal would halt such speculation.

Yeah, they don't have the time / man power to fix the Sunspear points problem or various other simple little things but they threw in the time/manpower to think up an NPC shard collector and then implement the collector. All to bail out one player.

First off the Sunspear points problem is being addressed. Secondly the NPC was prob already loaded and just waiting to be activated (Anet would have anticipated there would be spare shards). Finally the Gaile thing was a JOKE so lighten up.
