I was thinking of a new build to try wanted to get feedback. This would simply be for PVE. I think the attribute points are right. Please tell me if you think it could be effective and or how it could be improved (without changing the elite)

11 Expertise 10+1
9 Marksman 6+2+1
7 Wind Prayers 6+1

Gear:

15k Druids Armor
Sup vigor
Collectors Sturdy Recurve Bow Piercing damage: 15-28
9 Marksmanship
Energy +5

Erm i'm confused. I know you wanna keep this elite but I can't understand why - even if it works with your pet's attack skills (I haven't tested), you can't make your pet spread crippling as the poor AI hardly let you control which foe he will attack (at least it's almost impossible to make it switch to another target unless the fight gets really long, which is unlikely in PvE, and in any case it's really unpredictable). If you really want to sacrifice your elite for crippling (and there are generally better choices in PvE), why not simply take crippling shot?

Concerning the attribute points: I guess 6+1 wind prayer is a typo... I'd suggest you to use a mask of beast mastery as well (+1, +3) instead of markmaship, you're going to save a few attribute points. Expertise could be lowered to 9 as well, and you could use those points to raise either marksmanship (if you really wanna use a bow) or WS (as you carry troll unguent).

Since you have a bow, savage shot or distracting shot may be more reliable than disrupting lundge. Another pet attack would be nice as well - I would replace the Grenth's Grasp by one, but apparently you wanna keep it.

EDIT - I've just tested, Grenth's Grasp doesn't work with pet attacks.

Sorry I am new to being a ranger( about a week). A buddy of mine had suggested I try a R/D build using a cold bow and Grenth's Grasp so I thought to myself I wonder if that would work while still using a pet(which I like)
I am at work so I was just trying to think of what the att points could be so thanks for checking. Is there a good build I could use using Grenths either with or without pet? or am I just much better off sticking to B/p build or Burning Arrow build?

Hmm if you wanna use Grenth's Grasp, you gotta get rid of your pet (at least the pet attacks) and use spamable bow attacks instead. Crippling Shot would probably be a much better choice. But if you feel like playing with one dervish enchantement, you may want to check Elbon Dust Aura (for 30 secs, attacks cause blindness if you are wielding an earth weapon): it's easier to meet the requirement than with Grenth's Grasp, and much more effective in PvE.

And yeah, there are much more builds than the basic Barrage or Burning Arrow builds

He's using the icy bow to spread the cripple, and pet attacks as pet attacks Sir Mad, so he can at least cripple, and pet attack. I don't think there's much more to be said about this particular build, but I could suggest a non-elite R/D cripple skill which works with a bow: Harrier's Grasp, in the Wind Prayers line (only caveat is they have to be moving when you hit them to cripple). Then you can include a nicer elite, like quick shot would fit nicely, or for pet enraged lunge or ferocious strike.
Here's one possible build:
11+3+1 Beast mastery (I'd personally put this into wilderness, but thats just me)
8+1 marsmanship
8+1 expertise
and the rest in wind prayers (only effect is lengthens duration of cripple, and a crippling bow does that as well)

[skill]Harrier's Grasp[/skill][skill]Quick Shot[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Poisonous Bite[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Touch[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Poisonous bite could easily be replaced by any spammable pet attack skill, perhaps predator's pounce or scavenger's strike (i'd use predator's with these attributes as its only 5 energy). Dwayna's Touch can also easily be dropped for something better, like for example another pet attack, or whirling defense.

Edit: left off one of my /skill thingies, and remembered there's no need to go into dervish line for @moving cripple with a beast master, as theres Maiming Strike which works (not as well though).
The ONLY advantages of this build over a cripshot build that I can think of are energy cost per cripple, but as Sir Mad pointed out, there are a ton of advantages if you stay in ranger att lines.

Nope, it doesn't work: Grenth's Grasp doesn't cripple when you attack with a cold weapon, it makes your attack skills cause crippling when wielding a cold weapon, and it doesn't work with pet attacks (I've tested that when he posted the build), so for a bow user, it means bow attacks would cause crippling (with an icy bow). And since the build has none, it just doesn't work at all.

Hmm it sounds like I was trying the old sqaure peg in a round hole thing. I will need to yell at my buddy for telling me to use Grenths. Well at least its another elite for my dervish.

I am really just wanting to try different builds to see what I enjoy. Spamming Barrage is just kind of boring to me.

I like the BM build with the lunge elite and my white tiger Ihave been using that some.

You guys are great with your insights. Its good to be able to bounce things off this board and find out if I am crazy or on the right track

I wouldn't yell at him, after all he just suggested you try it with a ranger... he didn't say anything about the pet. Just that sometimes 2 great things make a mess.

I wont really yell at him
He just told me it woud be fun and that really is the goal. At the time he told me I didnt even have a pet I dont think. I am just so torn I like using my tiger but I like using a bow too. I will just need to find somethign that is a good balance with my pet dmg and arrow/condition damage(dont like traps) besides my B/P build

could just go apply poison, hunters (or screaming) shot, savage or disrupting shot, and pet stuff with perhaps a defensive stance and troll ungent, and 1-3 pet skills. Just weight the attributes to most effectively make use of whichever skills you DO choose.

I read somewhere(maybe wiki) that if I go war as 2ndary that healing sig is better(more hp at lower energy use) to use that trolls, is that true

At 12 in WS Troll Unguent heals 180 HP (10 seconds og 9 regen) while at 12 Tactics Healing Signet heals 130 HP. At 16 in their attribs it's 200 and 159 HP resp, and at 6 it is 120 and 85 resp. But Healing Signet has a much shorter recharge and 'cast time'. If you plan to continuously heal yourself, the signet is probably better (though having -40 AL counteracts a lot of the healing).

I think the choice is only between rebirth sig, and rebirth depending on what you are doing but thats just my opinion.

just take rebirth.... its the best because of the "brings back at your place" part ....imho

The rebirth signet works similar to rebirth, but only one use and the energy return is based on you sunspear rank.

Res Chant(Monk) is solid but slower than Flesh of my Flesh(Rit), but flesh also takes half of your hp while you res. Rebrth may be prefered due to its range and speed, but being without energy doesn't bode well during intense fighting when you're in the center of a mob.

It will truely depend on preference and secondary in the case of res chant and Flesh.
