Pet Care Taker
T N Player
By pet, i mean the pets that rangers have.
Right now I have a pet spider, but i always wanted a hyena, but I was not able to get it because I was not that far in the game. Now I am, but I don't want to get rid of my spider.
So I thought why can't we have more then one pet. A new addition the game can be a "Pet Care Taker." They would be near the storage and act like it. You can open a "care taker" account by giving them 500 gold and 500 additional gold for each pet you put in. Max is only 5 pets and the pets are not shared between your characters so if you have one character with 5 pets, you can put 5 pets in a different character.
The pets can be any level.
What do you think of my idea?

I think it's great, and I've felt for a while that we should have some sort of "pet stables" available. I hated abandoning my warthog Ozzy (yes, named after Ozzy Osbourne, because of the Black Sabbath song "War Pigs"), but he had to go as he wasn't the evolution I wanted
That's even a legitimate reason for such an option; different evolutions of pets perform differently in combat.
As listed by wiki:
Hearty: -15% damage, +60 health
Playful: -5% damage, +30 health
Elder: -0 damage, +0 health
Aggressive: +5% damage, -30 health
Dire: +15% damage, -60 health
Being able to have one of each would be ideal.
I'd also like to add that there is still no way of PvP characters defining the evolution of their pet (let alone it bieng rather poo that the only pet in PvP is the Wolf).
A PvP ranger has not got as many pet options available as a PvE ranger. The only evolution available to a PvP character is Elder.
This imbalance needs addressing.
It could even be as simple as a PvP character just renaming their pet "Dire Wolf" or "Hearty Wolf (obviously only allowing players to do this in an outpost).

or make the pet tamer like the festival hat guy, but then char-based, not account.

I don't see why ranger pets are so outdated. They really need to give them amuch needed boost, what with having pets with different damage types and different evolutions, it's really quite ridiculous that pets have to be raised from level 5 after a new one is acquired otherwise your beast mastery stat sucks.
The Hand Of Death
Mentioned before, I had a thread started about half a year or so ago. If I find the link I will try and put it here.
Edit: Guess I lied, more than a year ago. Here it is, hope it shows up.

I absolutely love this idea. I have a level 20 bear I don't want to get rid of (from pre-searing) but would love to get a spider, phoenix, and a jahai rat also.

pets become like weapons breeding the right pet for the right situation... or even loads of dire pets for each animal.
They could make a title for it for collecting pets too. That would be pretty awesome.

Though I doubt this would ever happen, It would be awsome owning multiple pets.

The whole idea behind a ranger and his pet is that there is a special bond, that's why all your skills reset when he dies in combat. That's why it's reffered to as animal companion, not pet, in the game. Part of who a ranger is, if he/she chooses to do charm such a thing.

Now, if you want to buff up some pet skills to bring them "up to date", that's a different matter entirely.
As for the only 1 pet in PvP, that's by design also, same reason an out of the box PvP only account doesn't have elites unlocked and all the gear and such.
Faction spent on unlocking new pets would be fine, though it would fall under a different proposal.
"This imbalance needs addressing"
There is no imbalance in only having elder, as evolution entails change over time. You let PvPers pick what evolution their pet is, then PvE will complain, and there again is that rearranging of fundamentals. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. If you want a special something, do it the normal way and earn it like everyone else. It's just rather poo that you can't be bothered to work for the reward like other people.
Alot of the people here in the suggestion forums don't get that some things Anet did on purpose, and for a reason, be it story or mechanics. It's not like they just threw everything together and slapped it onto a disc, and will change anything the users ask for.
Some peoples kids.

great idea! maybe even add an elite yet useless skill (useless as in charm animal useless) allowing you to bring 2-3 pets at a time, depending on beastmastery level, though thats even more doubtful.

Lol ok I have been a part of this site for idk how long but I'm gonna say along time and this is my first post...any way thats not whats important. I'm confused about all this pet "dire" and elder what not. But it sounds really cool so plz tell me this. Would my pet tiger eventually become a dire or something? It was lvl 3 when I charmed it.
Meat Axe
If you've just used it normally without really making sure it's dealt more damage while taking less, than no, your pet will be a hearty evolution.
To get a dire pet, you have to train it, and use specific skills, so that it does more damage than what you do, but doesn't take much damage at all. To get elder, you train it for one evolution, then at lvl 12 you switch and train it for the other.
However, if you're lazy (like I am), you can deathlevel a pet to dire evolution. Find a pet near a res shrine, and let it kill you till it's lvl 15 and then charm it, and you'll have dire.
If you want more detailed information, look up pets on guildwiki.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to respond to the actual topic. I think having multiple pets would be a good idea. And I love the idea of a title for charming pets. I do sort of agree with Aeon Xin about the special bond thing, but I don't care enough about the logic of the way a pet gets charmed and follows me to care. So, yeah, bring on multiple pets. I wanna start a zoo.

I'd love to be able to have a few different pet types for my ranger, but i also feel there should be a cap on how many you can have, so not everyone will have the same selection of pets...you still have to choose a bit.
I think a pen/mini-zoo/stable of 5 pets would be a good amount.
