Hello all, I am a level 5 warrior/monk. I just started the game and have found it to be quite enjoyable. I am having problems with one quest though.
I don't remember the name but do know who you are supposed to find. Oberon the reviled in the catacombs. I have searched and searched and cannot find this character.
I have been in the swamp water area and all over with the devourvers.
Any help would be appreciated!

When you enter the catacombs from the abbey, go left and down some stairs and make a right. There should be skeletons to fight along this path. Keep going and you will get to a big room with a couple of pairs of skeletons.
From where you enter there is another path out in the back right corner. Following it you will encounter spiders that drop down to attack. Eventually the path changes from cave-like to worked-stone-like and he is near enough that you should find him.

So you never even go into the swamp water then?

gw.gamewikis.org is your friend. I searched "maps" on wiki and came up with a link to this nice catacomb map:

Welcome to the game, Valterian. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun exploring this world!
At this point you are still in the "pre-searing" world. Take your time here. Explore, talk to everyone, finish all the quests you can and just get familiar with the various professions and skills you can earn. Once you take the quest from Tydus you'll be thrown into a much bigger world filled with lots of options, people and enemies.
One basic tip for newbies: In pre-searing you'll find a lot of folks wanting to buy dye from you. Don't sell to them! Some colors, especially black and white, are worth a lot of gold. Save them until you reach the post-searing world.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me in-game. The name is "The Scarlet Raven" and I'm usually online after 8pm EST. I can't join you for any quests while you're still in pre-searing but I don't mind answering questions or pointing you to the resources. You've already found Guildwiki and that will be your best source of knowledge.

If you set a quest as active then you get a green arrow on your compass to point to the next step and a green asterisk on the map to show the destination. In general that is enough to get you where you need to go, but places like the catacombs are tough as there may be no direct route there.
