Smiting Prayers Line

What are instances where smiting is useful, besides undead of course. Does smiting deal a considerable amount of damage? I'm debating whether to make a monk or keep my pvp slot.

Smiting has it's uses. However, it works best when combined with healing or protection.
Some builds that use Smiting:
Also, why is this in Sardelac Sanitarium? This isn't a sugestion of any kind, more of a question.

Yeah this probably needs to be in the Campfire somewhere.
Smiting is good for 2 things(imo):armor ignoring damage and undead. Vs. undead is obvious, the armor ignoring part is very nice for other classes.
The reason its very easily combined with protection and healing is for survivability, because there are 2(at least) ways to deal damage as a smiter: offensive and defensive. 55's operate off of letting the enemy hit themselves against you til they die. Due to the highly defensive nature of this build, its very popular. It also gets around the big problem with smiting: recharge times.
When you go to make your build, recharge times are the things to watch out for(besides the obvious energy usage).
But that's just my 2 cents

I think the suggestion would be "make smiting worthwhile vs non-undead that isn't AoE ZFire spam or SoJ solo builds"
Well, SoMW spike is ok in HA. And Stength of Honor OK if you have enough meleers around and no enchant strips.
But really, this whole line intentionally sucks for some reason, mosly for the long recharge times. Heck look at Word of Censure, shadow strike is a better skill and it's not elite. I'm curious what anets thoughts here were, maybe they belived it was just so the monk could add a little token damage inbetween healing, which most players don't do.

I think it was to faciliate a role for a secondary healer who wanted to help contribute to sustained group dps and still be able to offer some form of protection to aid the main healer if a particular area in a zone required more healing than the rest of the zone.
Many smite spells not only do damage, but they work well with protecting the group. It's probably for a role that doesn't want to specialize in one over the other where you want to be flexible for the shifting in healing and dps needed in battles.

Theres no suggestion, and I somehow doubt this was for campfire, seeing the big difference between clicking Sardelac and Campfire.
