You can replace Barbed Arrows with Apply Poison depending on the rest of the party (yet I seem to end up in more parties that have some sort of poison as opposed to bleeding).

That's a nice build. Although I'd think it would be better in PvE. Epidemic goes to waste in PvP. I might try this out, only because burning arrow is an awesome skill.. muahaha...

Seriously? Most builds only need 9 exp from my experience. If they are really energy heavy, then maybe 12-13. Anything more than this will seriously cut down the effectiveness of the skills used in the build imho.
As for the build posted: Epidemic I think is one of those skills that looks better on paper than in practice. While the cost is relatively low (but can still be a pain since it's not affected by expertise) and the cast is short, the range of the skill is really very small. I honestly think that it's more efficient to simply lay down another attack rather than stop and cast something.

Hmm, let's see all the viable ranger builds to exist in GvG.
Oath Shot Trapper... 14 (before the max hp mad rush, when people used glad's armor anyway)
Cripshot... 14
Melandru's Ranger... 14...
Burning Arrow.... 14...
I see a trend! Maybe it's different in PvE, but I'd have high expertise for a Beast Master, decent for a barrager, and, defintly as high as I could without lowering Hammer for a Thumper too.

...you do realize that this is a PvE section of the forums, right? I mean, people talk about some PvP type builds around here sometimes, but nothing was posted anywhere saying that this was a PvP type build.

On the expertise thing, you can drop a point there and achieve the same break point and put it into WS unless you want it for a break point for LR.

why an ias with no spammable attack skills? all its good for is plinking without something you can break your finger with.

I've tweaked it a bit based on feedback and some more testing (Masters on nahpui is a nice place to test how it manages energy). Apply is indeed better, as you can get 4 shots off before it ends instead of three, and you can afford the cost since you don't need more then 2 in wilderness survival. Also changed the order a bit, since you will be using three skills most of the time.
Also need to change the name now.
New version: Degen Spreader (ah well, that's what it does)

Use apply poison before engaging. Shoot a Burning Arrow followed by epidemic to keep the mob at a constant -10 degen. After about 4 shots you need to redo the apply poison. Don't use epidemic on a lone creature, it's a waste of energy. And try to find a target that can be poisoned. Most of the time you will be using those three skills, other skills are fillers that can be usefull in certain situations.

If you really want some nice degen just take burning arrow, apply poison, screaming arrow, then hit the poor guy with epidemic (if hes near a mob).

I use those for PvE too, actually. What? Just because it's PvE, Maximum Energy becomes energy management? Isn't the fact that it's PvE means that you spam attacks even more?

Yea, but you aren't spamming skills like Crip Shot. When you run a trapping build, yes, you need very high exp, but for your basic Burning Arrow build, lower expertise works just fine. There really isn't much of a difference between 9 and 12 expertise unless you are running expensive skills (in which case you will need exceptionally high expertise). However, in PvE, skills like Kindle Arrows and Read the Wind are legitamate preps which cost little energy. I wasn't saying that high expertise is foolish, but I don't believe that running a major exp rune is really worth it in most cases. With a minor exp rune, a sup rune with swappable headpieces is a legitamate choice and allows flexibility to adapt for various needs on missions. Also barrage builds (which can be very powerful in PvE even though they are near useless in PvP) only require about 9 expertise.

With apply and burning he's already at -10 (the max degen you get), so why throw in a screaming arrow too?
