why is r/me considered uber amazing? whats there to it?
Xeones The Great
just wondering, you know... i run a r/w burning arrow, and i was wondering if i should change it to r/me cuz every1 saying thats amazing. tyvm.

I can't see calling any R/X any better than another R/X (well... I CAN see calling a R/Rt a little worse...) as you can find something to do with just about any secondary.
I'd stick with a /W unless you wanted to try something different.

sometimes i'll run a burning/arrow/toxicity build with epidemic. that does a lot of degen to a lot of people. Other than that, i've not heard much about r/me being uber.

About the best thing you can get from a /me secondary is a stance or epidemic/fevered dreams in a condition spreading build.
I think some think a R/Me is better for interrupts, but a ranger running mesmer interrupts will run dry of energy pretty fast, and it's not an optimal build.
It's rare for me to use more than 1 or 2 skills from my secondary (if any at all), and there's definitely no "best" choice, least of all mesmer. It does have a nice niche for soloing, however.

Nothing from mesmers, except for illusion magic (fevered dreams, degeneration hexes, ect.), really syncs up with rangers. I can't imagine why anyone would think /Me is the best for rangers.

Not true! Expertise at least syncs with binding rituals, allowing rangers with Oath Shot to spam them better than rits. Weapon spells like Warmonger's Weapon sync with Barrage well. IMO, it's much better than /Me.
But then again, all a ranger needs is ranger skills. They're great on their own.

Well, with R/Me you can tank pretty well for certain areas and stuff. And there's always of course the R/Me FoW solo ranger... Which I still use from time to time.

I'm R/Me because:
- most of the builds I'm using need mesmer skills (FoW/UW solo)
- I don't like being R/Mo because it's like being a wammo...
- I started as R/Me and got all the skills =P

Spirit Spammer is one use, and it's a niche build. But honestly, if you were using the spirits for anything useful, I'd rather have stronger, more effective spirits less often than spamming weak ones.
Why would you use Warmonger's Weapon when you could use Choking Gas and mass interrupt without the condition? Or heck, why would you even bother with the weapon spell when you can Wield a single hard interrupt to the same effect?
Rit weapon skills are very energy heavy, and don't sync well at all when your trying to cast them AND make use of them. Last I checked the effect from weapon spells only affects one hit, and not all the arrows from barrage.

/Me used to be a MUCH stronger secondary than it is now. Mantra of Resolve used to be an excellent choice for trappers and Disortion used to be a good choice for an evasive stance. Since there are now better ranger primary trapper stances/interupt prevention and Natural Stride, a /Me secondary is less needed than it once was.
As for /Rt secondary, weapon spells really are overshadowed by conjure enchants by ele secondaries as far as buffs go and Binding Rituals being affected by expertise doesn't mean much with no attributes in spawning power to make a stout spirit. Until they fix Draw Spirit, I don't think there's much to a /rt secondary beyond having Flesh of my Flesh as a rez that can be done better than another secondary better.

If I know I'm going into an area with troublesome casters, sometimes I'll turn Jin into a R/Me and give her 4 interrupts. Really helps vs el mobs.

Nope, I remember reading about this specifically a while back
From http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Wailing_Weapon
"This is one of the few weapon spells that apply to all attacks made during a certain time frame instead of the next hit only; this is important in the fact that it will affect all arrows fired from a Barrage attack in turn causing major interruptions to an entire group of enemies throughout its duration."
It also works for other spells such as Brutal Weapon, Guided Weapon, NOT Nightmare Weapon, NOT splinter weapon, and Weapon of Fury.
For secondaries, r/rt with Death Pact Signet is always funny to see/use xD
Otherwise, I generally go r/mo for the rebirth in case everything goes terribly wrong in fow or something like that, old habits die hard.

Distortion used to be nice on a ranger, does ANYONE remember that?
Waaay back in the day, some people used to echo debilating shot. There's always been crazy people using Fevered Dreams with conditions.

In PvE, the main use of R/Me is for solo farming in my opinion. Stances like the Mantras or Physical/Elemental Resistence give you the extra armor you need to tank. But mesmers don't have many skills to improve a ranger build in a team. Some players use Epidemic with conditions builds, but it's not as good as it sounds. Eventually, you can make good use of Arcane Mimicry, especially if you have a hero ranger in your team, but the energy cost is high. Beside that, the mesmer skills are no longer affected by expertise, so you should think about it twice before you pack one, and ask yourself if you really need it for your build.
